Unattributed quote
[edit]In a box at the top of the article, there is a quote: "Who is this Beethoven? His name is not known to us. Of course, Punto is very well known." Pending other opinions, I will remove it. First, it is both anonymous and unsourced. Second, it is not very believable. By 1800, Beethoven was very well-known in Vienna and quite a popular composer and pianist. He had recently published his Pathetique piano sonata, the equivalent of a monster hit among both the musical public and critics. The Allgemeinen Musikalischen Zeitung had been reviewing his works for some time, and their very favorable 1800 review of the concert in question certainly implies no unfamiliarity with "this Beethoven." Added: The quote evidently came from an unknown critic in Hungary after Punto/Beethoven gave a second performance of the Horn Sonata in Pest. It is entirely possible that Punto, a traveling virtuoso, was better-known there than Beethoven. I'll just update the text a bit. Opus131 (talk) 21:48, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Pleurisy "common"
[edit]I have no doubt that Punto had pleurisy, but the assertion that it's common among wind players doesn't sound right. I've known *many* wind players, and the subject of pleurisy has still never come up. I wouldn't be surprised if Punto's early-19th-century doctors suspected a link between pleurisy and horn playing, or if Punto himself blamed it on being a horn player - but do modern statistics show a significant difference for wind players?
Regardless of who said it, I think that statement needs a citation. TooManyFingers (talk) 18:28, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
