About the dates....I have a Firebrand (has the truss rod cover that says "Firebrand") and a burned into the headstock Gibson logo but the serial number checks out to be 1980. Dates of Production may be slightly off. I was just going to comment on this exact same thing. I have one with a serial number that checks out to be a 1980 model, has the Gibson logo branded into the headstock (not a stencil) and has LP Firebrand on the truss cover.
