[edit]The article seems to be clear on that he was from Italy, but the article seems confused about his ethnic identity. Was he of full Italian descent or was he an Italian with part Spanish ancestry or was he of full Spanish background but born in Italy? The name Turriano looks like an Italian name but it could have been Italianized or was his mother Spanish and his father Italian? Can somebody check his background, please?
At this moment, Italy, as nation, didn´t exist. Part of the territories was part of the papal territories or the foraign state as spain. So Turriano was born in a zone of italy that was govern why the spanish monarchy. He was born as an spanish-monarchy subject an was reclamimed to the court — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilncos (talk • contribs) 20:23, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Name in English
[edit]Johnbod (talk · contribs) moved the page with the description "Johnbod moved page Juanelo Turriano to Gianello della Torre: Used by ALL Anglophone museums!". At least the Smithsonian used "Juanelo Turriano". So not "ALL". Care to provide examples that "most" Anglophone sources use "Gianello della Torre"? --Error (talk) 10:34, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- Met, NGA, BM, V&A, Frick etc etc. More generally, we don't use as titles the funny names immigrants were given by the locals. Della Torre's friend Jacopo da Trezzo ("Jacametrezo" to the Spanish) is another example, and Giambologna an exception. Johnbod (talk) 14:59, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
