[edit]Changed birth date from 1906 to 1905. Nexis search for her obituary shows nearly universal agreement on the 1905 date, including the Independent (London) and New York Times. She was 98 when she died in 2003, having just passed her birthday. Ssterns 16:04, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Correct birth year is 1905. Britannica is wrong on this one. As indicated in my note above her age at death requires the 1905 birth year. The Sports Illustrated article is out of date, as it does not list her death year at all. Finally, here is a link to a photo of the headstone of her grave, showing the 1905 date: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pis&GSmpid=46556946&GRid=8142767&PIgrid=8142767&PIcrid=66788&PIpi=2312842 Ssterns 22:17, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Please don't change these dates. Other sites are incorrect. See the New York Times or the Independent, U.K. obituaries.

Length of swim Battery Park to Sandy Hook
[edit]The length of Ederlys swim from Battery Park to Sandy Hook is wrong. Some places it is indicated to be 16.1 miles, in others 17.5 miles long. If the length was 35 km she would have had a pace of 1 km per 12.3 minutes in order to do it in 7 hours 11 minutes. That is quite fast even for 1 km in a pool! 87.62.112.253 (talk) 09:31, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
