This article relies heavily on Herbert Werner's book Iron Coffins, which has been subject of discussion on the Werner article talk page and at MILHIST: For the reasons given there, it cannot be accepted as a reliable source for historical fact, though as a personal memoir it is a useful insight into the thoughts and opinions of a German U-boat officer of the time.
