First American President to travel on a submarine

[edit]

The article states that Harry Truman became the first American President to travel on a submarine when he visited U-2513 on 5 December 1947. I thought Theodore Roosevelt was the first American President to travel on a submarine off Long Island Sound aboard USS Plunger (SS 2) on 25 March 1905. http://www.submarine-history.com/NOVAtwo.htm 98.240.51.222 (talk) 19:05, 1 January 2011 (UTC) tdanford[reply]

Even Wikipedia agrees: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Plunger_%28SS-2%29 Jmstar (talk) 20:40, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The claim that Truman was the first president to travel in a submarine is supported by the cited source, a newspaper article. But then, the newspaper didn't have Wikipedia to use for fact checking. -- Donald Albury 22:06, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you read the linked article you'll know that he visited only the submarines for about two hours, he neither travelled with her nor he took part on a diving mission unlike Truman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.15.84.15 (talk) 22:54, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
