Pre-Review Notes

[edit]

I review GA's with a "main review" then a prose+source review following it. This article is a good example.

Main Review

Rate Attribute Review Comment
1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct. No issues anymore.
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation. Lead is very good, no weasel words, etc.
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline. No issues with sources.
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose). There are in-line citations for information.
2c. it contains no original research. All information is cited.
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic. Covers main aspects.
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style). Article doesn't go into unnecessary detail.
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each. The article is NPOV.
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute. No major edit wars/arguments that I've seen.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content. No more issues with pictures.
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions. Images have suitable captions and are relevant.
7. Overall assessment. Great job fixing the issues I spelled out. Pass! Brandon (MrWooHoo)Talk to Brandon! 16:22, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Prose Review

Note: If you have changed the sentence that needed to be corrected, press Enter and start off the line with ::, then use checkY or  Done If the change was only partially done use checkY, and ☒N or  Not done if the change could not occur. (If you would explain why, I would be greatly appreciated :P) To see code, go to edit source and copy the code.

  • Lead

"several political parties and groups have express pan-German nationalist sentiment."

Change express to expressed.
 Done
  • During the imperial period

"and anti-clerical policies, in an attempt entrench the German ethnic identity."

Add to after attempt.
 Done
Are we going to use the serial comma or not? I see one example of it not being used: "This manifesto was signed by the radical German nationalist Georg von Schönerer, Vienna's populist, pro-Catholic and royalist mayor Karl :Lueger" and then I see it being used: "His radical racist German nationalism was especially popular amongst the well-educated intelligentsia: professors, grammar school teachers', and students."
I always use the Oxford comma, myself, so I've converted that sentence. RGloucester 19:55, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"He demanded the annexation of all German-speaking territories of Austria-Hungary to the Prussian-led German Empire, and rejected any form of Austrian pan-ethnic identity."

"comma and" is used only when the 2nd sentence is a full sentence, not a clause. Remove the comma before and.
 Done
  • Dissolution of Austria-Hungary (1918–1919)
No issues.
  • During the First Republic and Austrofascist period (1919–1938)
No grammar/prose issues.
  • During the Second Republic (since 1945)
No grammar/prose issues.
