Empire store?
[edit]- "All residents of Empire work for USG and USG owns the properties and buildings."
Isn't the Empire store now owned by a private party, after last year's brouhaha? --Fo0bar (talk) 00:45, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- I heard it was a dispute over who now holds the lease. If there was a more significant change, try to find a WP:RS which can document it. Ikluft (talk) 02:40, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Empire & the Comstock Lode
[edit]- "The discovery of the Comstock Lode led to the building of the Carson River mills out side of Empire in 1860."
The Carson River is about 100 miles south of the Empire referenced in this article. Since the source for the Empire and the Carson River mills article ([1]) states that Historical Marker 1 and the site of the Carson River Mills is located about four miles east of Carson City, which is over 100 miles away from Gerlach-Empire, I'm thinking that we're talking about a different "Empire" here. The Empire by the Carson River was the first Empire. When the gypsum ran out at that location, the plant moved to the location near Gerlach.
