Spalding and Tid
[edit]The phrase "between Spalding and Tid" is taken from DNB, but there is no evidence of such a place name. I suspect it's a misreading of "between Spalding and the tide". Jan1naD (talk • contrib) 17:09, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Answering my own question, with help from user Nanonic - probably Tydd. Jan1naD (talk • contrib) 17:58, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Father
[edit]While all sources agree that Gerard's father was called Richard, some (including DNB) reckon it was Richard de Camville, crusader, died 1191, while others, mostly later, believe it was Richard's father, died 1176. Jan1naD (talk • contrib) 23:47, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
His father was Richard (d. 1176) de Camville/Canville. Gerard and his sister each received half of a knight's fee that their father Richard (d. 1176) held of Aubrey de Vere II. The later Richard may have been a younger son of the older Richard, perhaps a brother or half-brother of Gerard.DeAragon 06:42, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Family Trees
[edit]Why are there two, partially contradictory, family trees in this article, and where are they sourced from? Looks dangerously like OR to me. Chuntuk (talk) 15:49, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
