[edit]The lead character of Night And The City was not a "a tough London gangster on the make". He was a pimp and a coward (spends most of novel running away, and is easily beaten up by a costermonger (market worker) in one scene). The De Niro movie transposes the setting to New York. Also, Kersh lived his final years in New York.
Any objection to making appropriate changes?

anyone want to confirm and put it up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.0.201.178 (talk) 18:23, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- That is from the NYPL Digital Gallery image of a dust jacket. The NYPL's terms for the site are not compatible with our CC/GFDL license, and anyway, the image's copyright almost certainly belongs either to the photography studio (Carlyle Studios) that created it or to the publishing company (Simon and Schuster) for which it was presumably created. Therefore, it could be uploaded here only if a case could be made that it satisfies the non-free content criteria, and I, for one, am not prepared to assert that it does.
