Miss Caroline
[edit]The article currently says that the subject wrote gags for the daily comic strip Miss Caroline. Actually, he wrote the gags for a book of the same title. My understanding is that the newspaper feature started by rerunning the panels from the book, and didn't last long enough to have new material (although I've yet to find a paper to verify that.) As such, it's probably better to say that he wrote them for the book. I have a conflict of interest in regard to this material, and will not make the edits myself, but there should be enough in the source for someone to do so. --Nat Gertler (talk) 02:25, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- Note: I have since learned that there actually were a handful of new gags - four, to be precise - during the strip's short run. --Nat Gertler (talk) 04:36, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
RIP
[edit]The Daily Cartoonist is reporting Gardner's passing. However, they are citing a Facebook post, and I don't think either of these sources cross our line for reliable source for a WP:BLP. Also, I should not be the one to post an update, as I have a COI, as publisher of the current edition of Gardner's Miss Caroline. I hope there are others keeping an eye out for a proper source. --Nat Gertler (talk) 04:42, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
