WP:UKRAINIANNAMES, WP:COMMONNAME; Heorhiy Prokopenko is ukrainian swimmer, not russian! --Микола Василечко (talk) 22:18, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
- Comment: How do reliable sources spell his name? Just saying "he's Ukrainian" isn't enough for a move. ONR (talk) 04:36, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
- The article itself has a link (...work by a group of dedicated Olympic historians and statisticians). --Микола Василечко (talk) 06:38, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
- Georgy Prokopenko - 22,200 results. Heorhiy Prokopenko - 824 results. The Russian spelling is used on the official olympic website, NYtimes, Swimswam, Olympiandatabase etc, I couldn't find the Ukrainian spelling among any reliable sources. The claim that he is Ukrainian is questionable. Did you interview him personally? Which way does he prefer his name to be spelled? Anyway, I think this nomination is just a case of primitive nationalism and should be closed accordingly. Openlydialectic (talk) 17:09, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose move and WP:SNOW close per evidence given by Openlydialectic. ONR (talk) 20:35, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. WP:UKRAINIANNAMES is just a proposal page, not a policy, WP:COMMONNAME is. Per evidence given by Openlydialectic,WP:COMMONNAME is "Georgy". This may change later but right now I see no rational reason for renaming. Omgwtfbbqsomethingrandom (talk) 03:19, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME, and WP:COMMONSENSE JC7V (talk) 16:33, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
