Historical Route of GA 26 and US 80
[edit]Does anyone know what the historical route for GA 26 and US 80 were through Savannah? From a 1933 ALA green guide it seems they entered on Louisville Rd (and possibly along Old Louisville as well), made a left on West Broad Street (now Martin Luther King Jr.), a right on Liberty (at a point now called Old Liberty St), and into town with an original terminus of US 80 at Bull St I believe. The highway was later extended east to Tybee Island. The routing into town changed eventually to the present route and along Bay St into downtown. There may have also been a routing from Bay St to Augusta Ave and back to Louisville. 7.5 minute topo maps show two US 80 routes east of the city, one on the present route down Victory and Saffold Drive, and another down Bay St, President Street and Islands Expressway. - Parsa (talk) 20:36, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
