Anyone want to help me come up with a plan for expansion of this article? Let's start a list of topics and information that might be added. --ElfWord 08:26, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The List

  • Departments
  • Awards
  • Notable Faculty
  • Notable Alumni
  • Buildings

there should definitely be history about the buildings, including the residence halls, and I think also buildings that don't exist anymore. Sorry if I wrote this in the wrong place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Klgh07 (talkcontribs) 06:45, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Greek Life

Anon IP 65.38.9.35 has been adding lists of sorority chapters to many college and university articles. I don't think it belongs here. Can we get a consensus as to whether this should stay or go? --SuperNova |T|C| 03:03, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't think listing all the groups is such a fashion conforms with the guidelines for a university. If there is no opposition I am going to revise that section in a week or two. --Eaglefan7385 (talk) 18:14, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Someone needs to change "homosexual friendly fraternities" to "Social Fraternities" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.10.250.182 (talk) 23:24, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

School size

Georgia Southern is not the third largest university --Thejermdotorg 20:35, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Chemistry Department

I'd like to add a section discussing the Chemistry Department at Georgia Southern. According to what I've heard from many professors, it's ranked very well in its system of institution and accredited by the American Chemical Society.

Motto

I have found no reference doing multiple searches for the schools motto being "Your UNIVERSITY. Your FUTURE. Your GEORGIA SOUTHERN." To me this sounds like a slogan, if even real, and not a motto for the school. If it is real I don't believe the capitalization is unnecessary. --Jerm 06:13, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I've seen that slogan/motto used in GSU advertisement in the student newspaper. I doubt its the official motto, though. -- Wtt 23:46, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Noted People

The famous alumni section needs work. Georgia Southern has had many thousands of successful alumni this section should be confined to those who have exceptionally distingushed themselves such as a highly successful pro-athlete or a founder of a large corporation. While Miss Georgia Foresty is a great achievement i do not think it warrents placement on an encyclopedia article about this school above all the other alumni. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eaglefan7385 (talkcontribs) 18:28, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Centennial Place

Summer is here, and it seems that the information relay at GSU dies. I tried looking up news articles about Centennial Place and found close to nothing. I'd like a little information about it here. I was surprised when there wasn't any. News Article (141.165.33.159 (talk) 14:45, 28 May 2008 (UTC))

No notable faculty?

I can't help noticing there's no list of notable faculty, in contrast to the Savannah College of Art and Design page which positively gushes over its faculty. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.165.66.214 (talk) 23:11, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity

According to their own webpage, this fraternity was founded at GSU on July 13, 2005. Therefore, I have reverted the edit changing it to 2006. GoDawgs1 (talk) 19:19, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

History section

Almost a year ago, this edit introduced what looks very much like PR-speak; so much so that it's on the Facebook fan page. The section has been edited since, but it's still quite unencyclopedic. --jpgordon::==( o ) 05:07, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

About my advertising template

Following the history section, the entire article needs to be rewritten to not sound like an ad. It's fine to say that the botanical gardens connect people to nature, but that opinion needs to be attributed to someone, preferably somebody in print or an independent news source.Georgiasouthernlynn (talk) 18:13, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Post-consolidation stuff

I'm not sure how many other editors for this page are aware of this, but keep in mind that all three campuses are referred to as such within internal documents. Additionally, the campuses are named the Statesboro Campus, the Armstrong Campus, and the Liberty Campus; no single campus is the "main campus" or a "satellite campus", nor should they be referred to as such.
