Georges Beuchat is a giant among French diving equipment manufacturers and it's important to get all the facts right when compiling a biography of the man. First, his place of birth is listed in his article as "Suisse", which should have been translated into English as "Switzerland" and I wonder why this has not been done long ago. However... I suspect that Georges Beuchat was born in the city where he lived, worked and eventually died... Marseille. At least one biographer, Francis MICHELETTI, thinks so (see: Beuchat l'ami de tous), enough to make me wonder whether any Swiss connection has everything do with the occupation of Beuchat's forebears (Swiss watchmakers) and nothing to do with the birthplace of Georges Beuchat himself. I find it intriguing - and frustrating - that his birthplace is given as the country of Switzerland on many websites but none of them provide the name of the Swiss village, town or city where he entered this world. Any objection to me changing his birthplace from "Suisse" to "Marseille", based on the source of an actual published biography of Georges Beuchat? Or at least removing "Suisse" as his birthplace until the matter is resolved by reference to a conclusive source? Helmardine (talk) 10:27, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
