Iron on Georges Bank
[edit]I remember, in searching through Dick Backus's _Georges Bank_, that 3% of the total iron present on Georges Bank was brought there yearly as a contaminant in fishing boat fuel, which might have important ramifications, as iron is both so rare and so valuable in aerobic waters, for example for cyanobacteria fixing nitrogen, etc. I have neither my notes or Backus's atlas with me now, I'm sorry to say.
