Donner60: Thanks for the post war info
[edit]Thanks for the extra info, Donner. Even the little bit you added regarding his life after the Civil War really reduced the complete mystery that it was from the limited online sources available. If you didn't already, take a read of Template:Did_you_know_nominations/George_von_Amsberg. Your information does a lot to dispel the dark cloud left by Howard's letter to Stanton. BTW, you don't happen to know Hungarian, or someone else who does that may be interested, do you?...... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Awun (talk • contribs) 08:22, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
- I looked at the DYK and read the article. I have the four books on "Colonels in Blue." Unfortunately the series still does not cover the entire Union Army but perhaps Mr. Hunt will finish it some day. One of the books does cover New York regiments. So I thought I would see whether it had anything to add to the article. It did. I agree about the additions. As it was, a reader would not know why he resigned and what he did afterward. The book disclosed that his resignation was for health reasons and that he was proprietor (owner, I assume) of a hotel afterward. Sorry, I don't know Hungarian or know anyone who does.
