I read :- He may have been ... Other possibilities include ... Sir John Wishart (d. 1576), afterwards a Scottish judge.
I also read :- He was hanged on a gibbet and his body burned ... on 1 March 1546.
Clearly, George Wishart the martyr of 1546 cannot "have been" Sir John Wishart, the Scottish judge who died in 1576. So what is the author of the first quotation from the page actually trying to say?
