A)Mario Williams is the Principal of the school B)the IB program there was ranked 92nd in the country by 5280 magazine in 2006 and is the only school in the top one hundred in colorado C)they have an annual pep rally for sports in general as well as a "green and white" basketball game, which are the school colors D)the schools boys and girls track teams were the state champs in 2007 and the boys 4*200m team was ranked 4th in the nation E)the school has a summer jobs program that has been running since 1993, when it was originally created during the "Summer of Violence" to keep kids out of trouble G)it is over 90% african-american
I'm not sure if it was the earliest in the country or world, but the school had a student-run Web site from at least 1993. Difficult to find a citation now to prove whether or not that means anything, but if anyone can do so please add it to the page... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.128.27.23 (talk) 03:28, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Missing two alumni: Joseph C. Phillips who had a wiki page and Jodi Binstock who doesn't but does have an IMDB page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.190.19.22 (talk) 23:33, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

What this is
[edit]Something unfortunate occurred earlier today. A student from this school was editing this article, and because she refused to understand what this is, she had her editing privileges suspended for a while. Let's not do that again, ok? Student editors are welcomed and encouraged to edit this page, but it must be done within policy and guidelines, respectful of what this is.
- This is Wikipedia's article about the school. It is not the school's page on Wikipedia. This is not social media. This page does not belong in any sense of that word to the school. An encyclopedia article is a summary of the information available about the subject in published sources independent of the subject. In other words, what you know doesn't belong here. What the school, or its students, want known about the school is irrelevant.
- Some things we don't include are: Student or teachers names, details about activities at the school that do not receive coverage by sources outside the school, achievements of less than the highest level, individual achievements of students or staff, course listings, bell schedules, opinions of any kind - negative or positive.
- Things we can include:
- The obvious details about the school like name, address, principal, school district (these things do not need references unless they are disputed)
- Facts that across all school articles, we have reached consensus on usefulness like a listing of interscholastic athletic teams, school history, a listing of AP courses, a mention of other advanced academic programs like IB, a mention of any highly unusual course offerings, a short discussion of fine art programs, a listing of academic competitive teams. (these things' existence can be sourced to the school, but any achievements or superlatives (such as the claim that this school's IB program was the first in the state) must have independent sources. However, independent sources are always preferred if available.).
- Notable alumni. Notable here means that they qualify to have a biography on Wikipedia. If the person's attendance at this school is not referenced in their bio, you must reference it here to include them.
- Highest level achievement. We only discuss team achievements. To include an achievement, it needs to be at least a state championship and you must have a reliable source independent of the school. Note that being first in a poll does not equate with a championship. Also, be careful to avoid promotional language (prestigious, powerhouse, amazing, tough, state-of-the-art, etc) in any addition you make.
- Statistical information must have sourcing independent of the school or the district.
- Please do not make comparisons to other schools. There was an unreferenced discussion of a rivalry with another school. That can be mentioned, but not discussed in great detail, as long as an independent source can be cited. That isn't tough. A newspaper story about any game between the two schools that uses the term "rivalry" is sufficient.
Hopefully, this helps avoid any more unfortunate occurrences. If you ever have any questions on the usefulness of an edit you are thinking about, you can always post on this talk page first and discuss it with interested editors like myself. Good luck.
