[edit]I am not very confident that the image displayed here shows George Stovey. The image comes from Pintrest, far from a reliable source, and is captioned "Pitcher George Stovey Newark Little Giants." If this image is supposed to depict him with the Little Giants, it would be from 1887. The image appears to be from a time period after that, my guess would be in the 1910s-1930s.
As far as I can tell, there hasn't been a confirmed photo of Stovey, so I'm not sure where this image originally came from. John Thorn in 2017 said no image of Stovey has survived, and he lacks a photo at Seamheads, which is great when it comes to attaching known photographs of negro leaguers. - It looks like SABR member Joe Williams was able to find a photo of Stovey in a newspaper, apparently sometime around 1928. Penale52 (talk) 22:17, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- Additional images of Stovey can be found here, one of which is now included in the article. Penale52 (talk) 01:26, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
