[edit]I just added a couple of putative half-siblings of George Poyntz Ricketts, based on bequests to children made in his father Jacob's will.
Provision of funds for the education, apprenticeship and a later £300 endowment for a mixed-race child called James certainly suggests to me there was a personal connection between Jacob Ricketts and the child. (The provision made for little James is equal to the bequest Ricketts makes immediately prior for a nephew.)
The provision immediately following, for an as yet-unborn child being carried by Ancilla, an enslaved woman - is made conditional on the child being mixed-race. I think this also implies that Ricketts believed himself to be at least the possible, and perhaps the likely, father of Ancilla's baby.
Nevertheless Ricketts does not formally acknowledge the children as his so my conclusions are open to challenge. RLamb (talk) 19:13, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
