[edit]Following discussion at Ganges river dolphin, citations from McGavin's own website have been removed, it's my understanding that the website of such a notable person is allowable for non-controversial details of their career. - I don't know what it has to do with Ganges river dolphin, but I did the removal. In most cases, the details were also supported by other sources, and I removed it to avoid citation overkill. In several other cases, it appeared to me as inappropriate to cite his own website, and I marked these as needing a new citation. These were the claims that several insect species were named in his honor, that he was a finalist in the 2001 Earthwatch Balloon Debate (what was this?), that he is a lecturer on Cunard ships, and that he has appeared on the Richard & Judy show to cook and eat insects. I see that more-suitable sources have already been found for several of these, and for the rest, either a suitable source can be found or they need not be mentioned. An example of the sort of thing which could reasonably be sourced to his own website is the statement that He enjoys eating insects, which he describes as "flying prawns". But again, it's unneeded in that case, because we have a superior source: the BBC. cmadler (talk) 17:23, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
