Koehler's (Köhler) father was a blacksmith from Rennermühle near Neualbenreuth in Bavaria. He went to Hesse and Hanover and on to Britain (the electors of Hanover were at this time kings in Britain - Personal Union). Furthermore he played a role as a British military counsellor of Pasquale Paoli in Corte, Corsica. --92.206.3.27 (talk)
