Rick Blears adds;
I found this short summary about GH Constantine very helpful.
Records show that very few of his works have reached the salerooms in recent years although between 1999 and 2003 almost 100 paintings and drawings were sold at various auctions, averaging a hammer price of just under GBP 1,000 each. He is represented in numerous important collections.
However, in recent weeks a tranche of 287 of his previously unknown and unrecorded works has come to light, after being hidden in an attic for 40 years. These will be auctioned on masse early in September 2007.
The result of this fresh supply coming onto the market is likely to be a surge of renewed interest in this artist and his work. A large number of people may want to learn more about this important English 'Sheffield School' artist before commiting to buying an example of his work. There appear to be very few alternative reference sources for even the most basic information.
It would be a great pity if the summary were to be deleted at the precise moment when so much fresh interest is likey to be aroused.
I also think that this fresh interest is likely to manifest itself in further contributions to this item in the immediately forseeable future. I would be delighted to learn more from an expert or collector of his work. 195.54.253.233 11:43, 7 August 2007 (UTC) 07-08-2007
