Frequently asked questions Q1: Does it have to say "white" police officer?
A1: Yes, because almost all reliable sources emphasize the significance of this fact. Q2: I read some information on the web that isn't in this article!
A2: When proposing anything to be added to the article you need to cite a reliable source; secondary sources are generally preferred over primary. Q3: This article is biased (for/against), or (whitewashes/blames), (Floyd/police)!
A3: See our neutral point of view policy. Complaints of bias must be accompanied by specific concerns or suggestions for change. Vague, general statements don't help. Q4: Why is this article calling it a murder instead of a death/killing?
A4: As a person was formally convicted for murder in a court of law, the article uses the term "murder", in line with the community guidance at WP:MURDERS. Q5: Wasn't Floyd killed near a store called Cub Foods, not Cup Foods?
A5: The store is Cup Foods, and is not affiliated with the Cub Foods store chain. Q6: Why does the article use such a graphic photo? Isn't it in poor taste?
A6: The lead image was determined by the community in a formal Request for Comment process. The RfC reached an "overwhelming consensus" that "...the image, despite it being traumatizing, should be kept per WP:NOTCENSORED, as it is an appropriate representation of the topic." Q7: Why was my request or comment removed?
A7: Because of the frequency of meritless and disruptive requests, any further requests to describe Floyd's murder using other terms (e.g. "death", "overdose") or to change the name of the article accordingly will be removed without consideration, unless the request complies with all relevant Wikipedia guidelines and essays, including WP:Requested moves, WP:Common name, WP:Article titles, WP:Naming conventions (violence and deaths), and WP:Reliable sources. Anyone removing such requests should include a link to this FAQ in their edit summary. Q8: Why do we not call the protests riots?
A8: Because most reliable sources call them protests, not riots. Q9: Did he not die of a drug overdose?
A9: No, whilst fentanyl was a contributory factor, his death certificate lists his cause of death as "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression". |

Title
[edit]This page should be moved George Floyd protests in Georgia (U.S. state). ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:19, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Another Believer: Should it? The U.S. protests seem like the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC to me. --Mdaniels5757 (talk) 16:41, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
- Mdaniels5757, OK, I don't feel too strongly either way, I am just used to seeing the disambiguation and wanted this page to be consistent. I'll let others decide what's best. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:45, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
- Support: There may be protests going on in the country of Georgia which don't have an article on here so the (U.S. state) should clear that up --2A00:23C6:ED01:400:64D1:5DB4:ADCC:104E (talk) 00:11, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- oppose for now. i had mentioned the alternate title only as a joke on the talk page of the source article when i made the split. i could easily be wrong about this, but for now, i am assuming that the international article would suffice to list protests in the country of georgia, if there are any. i had figured that qualifying the name of this article with " (U.S. state)" probably would have been even more confusing for most readers if protests in the country of georgia did not merit its own article. if it eventually does, though, i would happily support a move and a disambiguation page.
- also, in the political sphere of armenia, azerbaijan, georgia, (abkhazia, artsakh,) and russia, i am currently only aware of 25 protesters in yerevan and 2 in moscow. dying (talk) 07:27, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Title (again!)
[edit]Hi, I was thinking that we change the article name; George Floyd protests in Georgia → List of George Floyd protests in Georgia. The article read like a list to me. Any comments? Darth Flappy «Talk» 17:23, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- @DarthFlappy: although i do agree with your point, i think, because currently, most, if not all, of the other articles covering protests in an individual state (or city or country) are not named with the "List of" prefix, regardless of whether their content primarily consisted of a list, i would imagine that it would be considered a disservice to move this article to the proposed location. in addition, because many of those other individual articles could not be accurately described as a list, i feel that it would not be appropriate to move all of those other articles as well to have consistency amongst the article titles.
- alternatively, one way i can think of for you to rectify your dissonance would be to add content to this article so that it wouldn't read like a list anymore. come to think of it, that would probably be much easier than moving all the other articles anyway. dying (talk) 23:17, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yah, that makes sense. Thanks for the comment! Darth Flappy «Talk» 23:31, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
Proposed spinoff
[edit]I propose spinning off an article solely on the Atlanta protests, in the same vein as the George Floyd protests in Columbus, Ohio page. I feel that the level of activity and the coverage of the events, including the subsequent Killing of Rayshard Brooks, justifies a full article for George Floyd protests in Atlanta. -JJonahJackalope (talk) 02:03, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
