I propose to add a sentence about his symphony "German Teddy". The work, which is about the German emigrant Edward Thonen who died at the Eureka rebellion, was commissioned in 1983 by the German town of Wuppertal (the home of both Dreyfus and Thonen), and it has been called "his oddest work". It is based on an old folk song about the rebel that was rediscovered by George's wife Kay Dreyfus in the early 1980s. See also Edward Thonen#The song "German Teddy" for citable sources, and for a recording of the song.
I have done research on Dreyfus's symphony and on Edward Thonen, with support from the composer himself, and I have to disclose a WP:Conflict of interest when it comes to this addition; hence why I am not making the edit myself. My research has been published though, and is citable as Bamberger, D. & Young, A. (2023). Edward Thonen: a forgotten Eureka rebel. Zeitgeschichtliche Sammlung, Zentrum für Stadtgeschichte und Industriekultur Wuppertal. There is no online copy of the publication that is suitable to be linked in a reference, but it is available to be read here. The chapter "The song German Teddy" goes into detail about the music.
