Diachronous nature of geological events?

[edit]

Thank you for this useful new article. I have a question. The first sentence ("A geological event is a temporally and spatially heterogeneous and dynamic (diachronous) episode in Earth history ...") seems to say that geological events by this definition are always diachronous. The second paragraph has this sentence: "The lithostratigraphic or biostratigraphic boundaries that mark the onset and termination of geological events in the stratigraphic record may be diachronous ..." One of the examples of a geological event is "single footprint", which certainly must be isochronous in the usual sense. Should the first sentence be rewritten to indicate that geological events are sometimes diachronous? Wilson44691 (talk) 15:46, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
