Talk:GeoGuessr World Cup 2024
Appearance
Notability
[edit]Is this subject sufficiently notable to warrant an article? Is there any content here that wouldn't be better presented in a GeoGuessr World Cup article, or even merged into the main GeoGuessr article? MIDI (talk) 08:44, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- Formally proposing a merge into the GeoGuessr article. Will tag articles as appropriate. Happy to discuss. MIDI (talk) 13:44, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- I don't know.. 70,000 watched the final live. Over half a million watched the episode on YouTube, and there's more who watched it on other platforms I believe (I'm not on them, but it was streamed on Twitch as well). And since then it's got even bigger, with streamed shows reaching over 250,000 views each on YouTube for regional qualifiers for the 2025 World Cup next year. So I'd say it is notable, and furthermore someone needs to create a 2023 page as well, which was the first.
- Obviously, happy to discuss, but I think the amount of views makes this pass the notability test. Tris2000 (talk) 22:59, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Apologies, the regional finals were for this year's competition. Tris2000 (talk) 23:01, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- WP:BIGNUMBER covers the idea that something's notability isn't based on a given quantity (of views, for example). I'm not saying the GeoGuessr World Cup shouldn't be mentioned; rather, it should be condensed into the main GeoGuessr article. MIDI (talk) 07:26, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

- Agree to merge. Currently does not warrant notability for a standalone article. A09|(talk) 18:51, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
