I was shocked to see this had a wikipedia entry. I can't imagine what the purpose of having an entire wikipedia wiki entry for a gentoo command is. It's not very notable... why not have an entry for 'etc-update' or 'ls'? Just asking here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.160.118.94 (talk) 04:50, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why not have a wiki page if it's well written? ls has one too btw. --213.181.47.90 (talk) 13:19, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This page shines simply because so many ppl(including handbook) using genkernel or not are ignoring the fact this page stated: "However, one can choose to use a custom kernel configuration and use genkernel to compile it, and still benefit from other features such as the initrd builder." They would rather cuss or cry for days than simply man genkernel. --Mea Culpa (talk) 07:45, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Experienced Linux users

[edit]

"Experienced Linux users generally prefer to configure and build their kernel manually" is incredibly dubious. I'm not even sure that's true of most Gentoo users! 81.106.19.73 (talk) 21:52, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
