Talk:Genism/Archive 1
Unencyclopedic
[edit]It would seem this article goes against Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms. Given that the use of this term derives from only one source, and that's fictional, I'm not sure the status of "genoism" even rises above protologism. It is an interesting concept, to be sure, but I don't know that this is the place for it. ENeville 20:25, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- I've seen so many protologism articles that it's probably best to just keep them as long as both origin and popularity can be determined, which is pretty easy in this case given it's a top 250 movie. --Zero g 01:27, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Merger
[edit]I don't think the article as it is fits into Gattaca. It's better suited for a merge with genetic discrimination. --Zero g 14:48, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act
[edit]Genoism is no longer contained to the subject of Gattaca. See the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act. So, we have to clean up the article. I have introduced some preliminary changes, but have neglected to do the completely needed overhaul at the moment. -- kanzure 11:23, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- You've missed the point -- the concept discussed here is relevant outside the film, but in any context other than the film, it isn't called genoism. The term itself has no currency. The concept could be discussed in some other article but not under the name "genoism" -- this needs to redirect to Gattaca. --Trovatore (talk) 09:51, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
