Discussion of Repurposing Old Factories

Lowe Mill (Huntsville Alabama) was a textile factory originally before being purchased by Genesco and used as a factory. See https://lowemill.art/history/. It is now a large arts center. Perhaps a new section can be added for old facilities which have been repurposed. This could be nice examples of Mill Conversion for old Genesco facilities.

Questioning Lack of US Manufacturing

Compare the statement in this article: "Genesco exited the business of shoe manufacturing when it closed Johnston & Murphy's Nashville, TN factory in 2002. Genesco now contracts with independent, third parties located outside the United States to manufacture its branded and licensed footwear" To a statement in the article on Allen Edmonds that AE and J&M are both among "the handful of manufacturers still making men's dress shoes in the US" The two statements leave it unclear whether Johnston & Murphy manufactures shoes in the U.S. or only outside. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.202.188.38 (talk) 00:56, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to lead and article

Today, rather hesitantly, we are noting that a lot of the information in the article is unsourced, apart from the company's published "About" information and its 2023 Form 10-K — that is to say, starting with the lead, and through to the brands section, the article is not an independent, third party-sourced encyclopedic article. (Excluding the two inline citations that are notes, there are 11 citations, 6 of which are from the company.) This criticism includes the facts that come content in the lead does not appear in the main body, and that information summarised in the lead from the main body is often unsourced there.
