Benzodiazepines are not strictly speaking general anaesthetics as their effect is actually sedation. I would say this is a subtle but important distinction. This is also why dental practices can have procedures under 'intravenous sedation' without classing the surgery as requiring general anaesthetic. Of course, these are frequently administered in combinations with other drugs to facilitate surgery. A good example in veterinary practice is the combination of Fentanyl, Fluanisone and Midazolam under the trade name Hypnorm/Hypnovel. Still, I think this should be clear in an encyclopedic entry. Any thoughts? --IcyEd (talk) 09:45, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Merge with General anaesthesia?
Topics and ideas seem to be very synonymous with the ideas of the page General anaesthesia. Merge? See talk page of General anaesthesia for more. BluePankow ✉ 16:23, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Inhaled anesthetic
It seems utterly wild that neither this nor General_anesthesia make any mention at all of inhaled anesthesia. I'm not a medical professional but from everything I can find as a layperson it seems like inhaled anesthesia is extremely common. This page doesn't even mention ether. Can that be right?Gravislizard (talk) 21:00, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
