General Growth Properties name change
[edit]Hi, I understand that Wikipedia discourages an employee updating information on their company Wiki page, so I wanted to bring this up here. I also want to note that I have never edited through Wikipedia in the past, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.
Last week, General Growth Properties went through a name change to GGP [1]. With that update, we'd like all references to be updated to show that change. Would you please advise on the best way to get this implemented on our Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Growth_Properties
Thanks, GGPSocial (talk) 16:39, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- We already have a page called GGP so not so straightforward as a page move, and please read WP:COMMONNAME. Theroadislong (talk) 17:03, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Theroadislong, what about if we move it to "GGP Inc." since that's officially our legal name we're moving to. GGPSocial (talk) 19:16, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Rouse Properties
[edit]Source page is basically a directory listing (which goes against WP:! with a short corporate history that could be (and has been?) merged Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:26, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- Support, I don't see anything in the Rouse article that can't be adequately addressed as a section in this article. WikiRedactor (talk) 03:29, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
Requested move 2 December 2019
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: move the page to GGP Inc. in preparation for other editorial changes, as discussed below. Dekimasuよ! 05:01, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Brookfield Properties Retail Group → GGP Inc. – The article has become highly confusing after the acquisition by Brookfield; I believe the simplest ways to solve this problem are to:
- Move "Brookfield Properties Retail Group" back to "GGP Inc.", since the content of the article is really the history of GGP (a noteworthy company in its own right) before Brookfield.
- Take any post-Brookfield information and merge it into the Brookfield Properties article and redirect the "Brookfield Properties Retail Group" namespace to that article. A previous discussion noted that it is incorrect to speak of "Brookfield Properties Retail Group" as a separate division, since it is a unit within the existing Brookfield Properties division of Brookfield Asset Management ("Brookfield Properties' retail group", as it is described by the company).
- Split the existing list of properties into its own namespace, ensuring that the GGP Inc. article stays true to the pre-Brookfield history and the Brookfield Properties article does not become bloated. - Support (COI) As a disclosed Brookfield employee, I proposed a version of this idea at Talk:Brookfield Properties#Merger proposal, and I think WikiRedactor's solution here is completely reasonable. Thanks! Dvruthven (talk) 15:23, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
- WikiRedactor, I am willing to close this as a move, but this is probably still open after 4 weeks despite the lack of objections because of the amount of work implied (WP:DEMAND). If I move the page and close the discussion, will you perform the necessary splits and merges? Dekimasuよ! 07:46, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Dekimasu: I will take care of that work, thank you for your feedback. WikiRedactor (talk) 17:12, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- @WikiRedactor: Thanks, done. Dekimasuよ! 05:01, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
