Vicki --- In the web page [1], notice the difference between Giant Forest and Grant Grove.. General Grant is the largest in Grant Grove, 3rd largest overall (in the Park, and in the World). May I revert the edit? -- hike395

Second tallest tree

[edit]

How is this the second tallest tree? There are loads of trees over a 100 m. See Stratosphere Giant and the links from it. Piet 13:45, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, largest in mass. You could clarify that. Piet 13:51, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics in article are suspect

[edit]

The statistics quoted in the article are either uncited, or cite to a web article about the General Sherman tree. We need to verify the statistics for this tree with a reliable source. hike395 (talk) 03:52, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[2] lists the tree's height to be 81.7 meters as of 2002. Has the tree grown 3 meters in the last 6 years? If so, what is the source? Thanks! hike395 (talk) 03:55, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bradluke22 adds exaggerated numbers everywhere in Wikipedia, especially regarding Sequoiadendron and other large tree species of western North America.Krasanen (talk) 12:35, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The cited source is out-of-print, and unavailable from books.google.com ... I've ordered it from interlibrary loan. Until I (or some other third Wikipedian) can verify the statistics, I've removed them from the article. hike395 (talk) 16:39, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Age of General Grant?

[edit]

According to this article, this tree is 3000 years old, though this document mentions half of it. I won't change the article as the original information as a source, though I am not sure which one is more reliable.

Cats

[edit]

Hello @Gildir: I don't think the cats Category:Individual giant sequoia trees Category:Individual trees in California are the same. Are all of them in California? If not then we need both cats.
