Not just PCR
[edit]New page instead of a redirect to PCR? "gene amplification" doesn't necessarily refer to PCR. In Brooker's Genetics Analysis & Principles (3rd ed.), the term is used to describe an uncommon process of gene regulation in living organisms. The example given is with frog oocytes, and replication of rRNA genes as minichromosomes. 24.69.134.220 (talk) 01:23, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that there are more meanings of it. I'll make it a disambiguation page to start with. Mikael Häggström (talk) 05:50, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Broad concept article
[edit]Links to this disambiguation page often seem to mean gene or DNA amplification in a general sense, rather than by any specific technique. None of the articles currently on the disambiguation page seem to be appropriate targets. I think that a broad concept article on amplification would be useful, if someone felt competent to write it.
