Merge proposal to Gender-neutral language
[edit]It seems to me that a) there is substantial overlap between the content of this article with Gender-neutral language (specifically, the neutralization forms section), and that b) what does not overlap could be profitably accommodated in the older article. As a matter of avoiding duplication and not splitting up things between too many separate locations, I'd therefore suggest merging the present article with Gender-neutral language. I'm not too hawkish on this; some comments would be appreciated. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 19:58, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, this is overdue. Mathglot (talk) 16:54, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Shalor, I'm starting the Merge process on this student article. First, by dropping everything not sourced, moving unique info out of the LEAD section and into the body, dropping what's left of the lead that is merely a summary (thus a duplication of body material and not needed for merging). I'm not sure if I will complete this merge or not, but others are welcome and encouraged to assist. As far as the merge, I am considering paring down the body further to facilitate a merge, and moving what's left to a collapsed section at Talk:Gender-neutral language, and letting interested editors there pick and choose what, if anything, they wanted to include in the article. Once that is done, this article be turned into a redirect (mostly to preserve history, as there are no in-links; see WP:MAD). Adding User:Elmidae. Mathglot (talk) 19:35, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- As to what to move, section by section:
- Grammatical gender marking – commonplace; I don't think anything here needs to be saved, with the possible exception of a note about Swedish, if the target doesn't talk about Swedish, and if an additional example is needed there, beyond the examples they already have. Otherwise, maybe port the refs (already copied to Further reading at the target) or drop the section entirely.

- Feminization forms –
- Suggestions for use – Keep WP:NOTHOWTO in mind before tackling this one.
