- In 2019, a few months after Williams' resignation and as PGE faced shut-offs of aged infrastructure to reduce fire risk, California Governor Newsom declared PG&E's "greed and mismanagement" along with the utility's lack of focus on hardening its grid and under-grounding its transmission lines in vulnerable areas as reasons for inability to deliver electricity and the shutdowns.
