I'm sure I can't be the only one who's curious: How did it get that name? D.M., 14:14, 10 March 2006
Considering the track record of this article being vandalised by anonymous accounts, I suggest that this article be put in a semi-protected state where only accounts registered for more than four days can edit it. I would think that would cut down on the vandalism and efforts to clean it up considerably. Scud1 22:57, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm curious too
[edit]I am curious too, D.M. How exactly did it get the name Gays? SilverBulletx3talkcontributions 18:19, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
I was born and raised just outside of Gays and the story behind the name that I heard is this. The Village started as Summit Station because it was the highest point on the railroad between St Louis and Indy. When the Village tried to incorporate it was discovered that another town in Illinois had he name Summit. The Village Board had to come up with another name. So... the Board members used the initals of their last names to form Gays.
I also was born and raised outside of Gays, and I heard the same about it being Summit. Since it was the highest point, they decided to call it Gays because you could "gays" for a distance...there was just a slight spelling problem.

Hitler’s Bicycle
[edit]11/12/2021 There is little or no evidence for the existence of a work of “art” called Hitler’s Bicycle. The posted reference is not there any longer. There are no photos of the alleged item. Using the Wayback Machine to find the original article show that it was about The Amish and not Hitler. Please examine the evidence. If this is a hoax it should be removed or marked as such.
This is just another example of a posted reference that is incorrect but is allowed to stay up because people don’t bother to check the references for accuracy or to see if the topic is correct or if maybe they are completely fake. Here is the original quote. I am reposting it in case the original has been removed.
“West of the outhouse is the former site of what was claimed to be Hitler’s bicycle. A rusty bicycle once hung on a pole with a sign that read "Hitler’s Bike (1932).” Ty78ejui (talk) 13:42, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
