Future expansion
[edit]- The background section should be beefed up with information on the state of LGBT rights in the US in the 1970s/early 1980s.
- Mention should also be made of Baker v. Wade, which overturned the Texas sodomy law (later reinstated, now overturned by Surpreme Court)
- Need some information on the state of LGBT relations and the student organization at A&M as a result of the ruling.

- Background and the aftereffects, I concur, need to be beefed up, but how does Baker v. Wade pertain to this subject? BTW, interesting court case about A&M of which I was unaware. — BQZip01 — talk 04:28, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- I saw a mention somewhere that Baker v. Wade happened while this court case was ongoing (thus probably killing the university's argument that the club couldn't exist because it promoted an illegal activity), but there weren't enough details in my source to include it yet. I had never heard of this either, and was surprised to find out that this is how A&M ended up with fraternities. Karanacs (talk) 14:20, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- As long as it is linked to this and that link is specified, I have no problem with such an addition. — BQZip01 — talk 16:37, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Historical Accuracy in Terminology and Ideation
[edit]- Care needs to be taken not to ascribe current so-called GLBT (or LGBT) terminology and ideology to the actual issues in play at the time the events occurred. Specifically, the GSS charter and the related legal case, along with the other court cases alluded to in this article, had nothing to do with bi-sexual or transgender issues, nor did they even point out 'lesbian' issues as somehow separate from 'gay' issues. It would be historically innacurate (though, perhaps very 'pc' within the LGBT community today), to indicate that the actors involved on either side of the GSS vs. A&M case (lawyers, activists, students, etc.) thought that they were talking about the rights of any minority groups other than homosexuals.
