Feedback and help for article
[edit]hi - new to writing articles, would appreciate some feedback on the article I'm writing (raintemp). Plan is to cover all the well known FIFA artists, and then start updating other well known South African artists Dave gurney (talk) 10:22, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
oh I've started with this artist because he leads me into a page I'd like to write on neo-pointillist artists, but first I think I need examples of them - so I'm gathering them from around the world to try and get a comprehensive body of knowledge around this art movement Dave gurney (talk) 10:24, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
oh forgot to mention - still waiting the obligatory 4 days to upload the images....Dave gurney (talk) 10:32, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Looks good so far. You need to find more independent sourcing for the article, though; sourcing it only from interviews would lead people to believe that he does not meet the notability guideline. While I'm not finding much online at the moment, you might be able to work The Witness in as as independent source for the pictures-within-pictures motive. (I'm having trouble linking it directly, but a Google News search will bring it up.) There are a few articles listed at Highbeam Research - many of them are just listings of exhibitions, but a few look like they might treat the subject in depth.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 14:30, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Sarek - will check that out - the interviews are from magazine articles, but the web links to them are somewhat suspect so I got hold of the actual magazines and took reference material from there. Not entirely sure I've referenced the magazines correctly however. There are overlap quotes on biography pages for the artist on various gallery sites, but I wasn't sure that was notable enough.Dave gurney (talk) 13:11, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Dave. I'll be glad to help you. You could let me know each time you create an article, then I'll take look. As Sarek said, sources is very important. Also try to add an Infobox to the article. Beside that it looks good. Are you having difficulties with images? Just ask if you have a question! Kind regards, LouriePieterse 16:26, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Lourie - I've managed to sort out the images, although I'm not entirely sure how to mark them for verification - I've gained consent for their use from the artist, but not sure as to the next step. As to an infobox - that's a new one for me. Will see what I can find under the help thanks Dave gurney (talk) 13:16, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- Loerie - I accidentally forgot to add a license to the one image I've put in (gavin_rain.jpg) how do I add it afterwards? Dave gurney (talk) 13:23, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- more to the point, I've added the license I think - but it's removed the title for the image - even though I've got one there... odd Dave gurney (talk) 13:34, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
