I have in the past sampled and analyzed soil gas for environmental monitoring purposes - Specifically for characterization of groundwater contamination by VOCs, to monitor decomposition products (or O2 uptake) from oxidation of hdyrocarbon fuel contamination, to evaluate the direction of solute phase transfer (gas-to-groundwater vs. groundwater-to-gas), to evaluate migration of biogas from buried waste or from soil contamination by fuels, and for assessmenet of the oxygen demand of sulfide mineral oxidation (Acid Rock Drainage).
At the risk of making this broader than just soil science, would these environmental areas of application be appropriate for inclusion?
