memorable calls
[edit]The quote for "the rangers win the cup" was slightly off.
controversy
[edit]The phrasing of the bloody-sock issue might be inaccurate.
Currently, it reads, "On April 25, 2007, while broadcasting a game between the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox, Thorne stated that Red Sox back-up catcher Doug Mirabelli told him the bloody sock worn by Curt Schilling in the 2004 ALCS was actually not stained by blood but by red paint."
That might not be true. According to a transcript of the broadcast, Thorne actually said: "It was painted. Doug Mirabelli confessed up to it after."
He might have told somebody that Mirabelli told him that, but he didn't initially say it during the broadcast, which is how the sentence reads. Another account claims that Thorne said later in the game that Mirabelli told him that several years ago, but I haven't seen a confirmed transcript of that portion of the broadcast.
