Gary Higgins as CLP leader - leadership ballot, or decided by CLP HQ?
[edit]Looking at the available sources[1][2][3] it seems to implicitly indicate that the decision was made by CLP HQ rather than by leadership ballot (whatever that would look like with two MPs anyway). The CLP organisation released a statement as to who would take on the CLP leadership and therefore the opposition leadership, with no mention of a leadership ballot by MPs. Was no ballot conducted, and if not, and was instead decided by CLP HQ, that is something unique which ideally should be expanded on in the appropriate article area(s). I don't suppose anyone has connections that might shed light on this? Timeshift (talk) 06:30, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
- The CLP statement was: "Today the Member for Daly, Gary Higgins, and the Member for Spillett, Lia Finocchiaro, met to discuss the future leadership of the Country Liberals. Gary will now lead the Country Liberal’s parliamentary party with Lia as Deputy."—so it looks like Higgins and Finocchiaro met and allocated the leadership and deputy leadership positions between themselves, with no ballot or decision from other party officials. --Canley (talk) 06:42, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
- Interesting. One would have to wonder if they were the only CLP party members in attendance though. Timeshift (talk) 07:19, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
