A fact from Garry Bjorklund appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 26 July 2011 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
|
http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/records.asp?actnum=422 Garry Bjorklund is still the official MN Mile High School record holder. Wanna-be Rob Finnerty from Lakeville ran an elite-class, "rabbitted" event AFTER he graduated high school. His claiming event was NOT in MN High School competition--it was a staged elitist event. Garry Bjorklund's record 4:05.1 was run at the 1969 MN High School State Track Meet at Macalester College in St.Paul, MN and was 100 yds ahead of his closest competitor when he set this mark.
MN now only runs metric high school events in track, so unless they go back to former formats, Garry Bjorklund will remain the all-time official MN High School champion. Any other "factoring" or equating won't cut it.....let's get real, here........

- Because the official source provided lists Bjorklund as the record holder, I changed the article to reflect that. Thank you for pointing this out. Giants2008 (Talk) 17:08, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
