- The article is new enough and long enough and is adequately sourced. QPQ has been done and I didn't find any close paraphrasing. I do understand the idea of the hook, being intentionally vague to encourage readers to click more, but it's probably not the best option here. Readers might react with "duh" if they heard a person died on an island named Gangster Island. Personally, either the Al Capone angle or even the circumstances of the man dying on a chair would make better hooks. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 04:44, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: I am sure you are right. The Al Capone angle is the most interesting but it is based on local rumors, real estate and private sites. The name of the island is about the only interesting thing.
- ALT1: ... that there is a Gangster Island in northern Wisconsin?
- If insufficient I should probably withdraw this nomination Lightburst (talk) 14:20, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- I don't really see that as an issue as long as it is attributed. For example, saying something like "it is claimed" or something to that effect. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 15:11, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

- ALT2: ... that Gangster Island in Wisconsin got its name after rumors about a connection to Al Capone?
- Trying another one @Narutolovehinata5:. Lightburst (talk) 13:22, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
- I'll have to think about this. On one hand I do think that ALT2 is the best option, but on the other hand I'm not so sure about the source provided. It's a promotional page for a nearby resort but claims to be based on a publication, but the source also directly states as fact that the island was named for Capone rather than it being a rumor. Normally I'd accept the source as uncontroversial information, but I'm not too confident about the level of claiming here. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:46, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: I am checking what I need to do to get the nomination on track. Lightburst (talk) 21:45, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- Basically I'd like to see if a less... promo-y source can be found for the Al Capone fact. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 22:51, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: Can you accept ALT1 as interesting? It would make me click. The Al Capone angle is like I said, rumors, bloggy sites and real estate listings. Lightburst (talk) 01:58, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- I will have to think about it. I am leaning yes but I will need some thought. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:31, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

- After giving this some thought, I thought that just the name Gangster Island is probably interesting by itself. Give a source/footnote with ALT1 and it should be good to go. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 14:05, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message @Narutolovehinata5:. I am going to withdraw this as no viable hook can be found. The sources that refer to this as "Gangster Island" are not wonderful RS. Lightburst (talk) 19:41, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
