Notability
[edit]As I understand it, all populated places, both current and historical, are (or at least were) considered notable. Gage is a former town, it exists in the Delorme Atlas for New Mexico, currently has an exit marked "Gage" on Interstate 10 (yes, I have been in Gage), and is mentioned, as stated in "References", in the WPA Guide for New Mexico. It is a real place, and I feel that it should have an article. Unfortunately, I have little knowledge about the town. Squad51 00:09, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm just not sure how the former town is significant. Is there more information? Navou banter / review me 00:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- It would be nice to have more information, but even in its absence, a formerly-populated named community is significant/notable, especially when, as noted, it appears on maps. 72.104.149.253 (talk) 03:05, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
- There is at least one rather large mine there. When I go to the EMRD site to look for it, there's a stonewall. I have seen, about 3 miles south of the truck stop, where Luna County Road 20 turns to gravel, what looks like an old admin building, white and grey tailings, and lots and lots of shiney new fence and razor wire..... I couldn't find it on the fed or NM list of active mining operations, but there are vehicles there. No "keep out" signs...but I have been followed many miles after doing a curiosity drive down CO RD 20 by 2 people in white pickups. Never was ale to make out a logo and there doesn't seem to be any government or company names posted. I think it's odd that there is a reference to it, yet it "doesn't exist" ... but it is there. https://www.emnrd.nm.gov/mmd/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/Gage-nomination.pdf gets one nowhere. However, I also found this:
- https://thediggings.com/mines/2892 so my guess is it is a BLM hush op. 67.44.160.33 (talk) 05:02, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
