Cains:Feel

Who keeps taking cains:feel out? Last time I saw it had a valid non fan-site source?

Cains:Feel is considered an important part, although it was a minor part of his carreer. IT was because Cains:Feel that he was discovered by Mana. Which then places him into malice mizer, etc, etc -August 31, 2007 at 4:12PM

Dirge of Cerberus

"Genesis is also featured in the unlockable "G Files" in Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. He will be used as a model for the motion-capture process and for the image of the character."

"will be"? the game has been out for a while now, past tense no longer appropriate and probably shouldnt have been used in the first place.

Also not sure about the description of his involvement... motion capture and image? the footage in the game is actualy of Gackt himself, its not a 3D model. they filmed him and composited his image over the CG scene. If you watch the scene (which you can find on youtube easily enough) its clear that its real footage of him. Mloren 01:13, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Do you have a source that proves that it is actually live footage? Because it looks like CG to me in all the versions on YouTube that I looked at. Perhaps they just got his appearance down really well? Also, if you don't think the tense fits (as it really doesn't in this case), change it yourself and note in the edit summary that the game has been out for a while. Nique talk 12:39, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Uh, yes. Like every press conference involving Dirge of Cerberus from October 2005 for example, e.g. this video. The whole "inserting a live person" thing was a really big deal for game industry folk and fans alike. LauraOrganaSolo 17:22, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Gackt's Modeling and Design Work

I've been trying to provide more references for this article, but I've been having a few problems regarding some of the claims stated here. Does anyone have any more information regarding Gackt's work as a model, particularly for Yoshiyuki Konishi? I can't find any sources to actually support the claim that he worked as a runway model for Yoshiyuki Konishi, so I left it alone during my edit. As for his work with h-darts, I haven't found anything about Gackt actually designing anything for h-darts, but he has been used as a model for their products a number of times. I removed the unsupported claim that he designed stuff for h-darts, but please feel free to put it in again if anyone manages to find a reliable reference for it. There are still a few other unsupported claims that I failed to find sources for, so please help with the citations/references if you can. :) Silentaria 06:27, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately the Yoshiyuki Konishi stuff is very rare but there are scans from the catalogs and photos of Gackt actually on the runway of a fashion show.
h.darts was actually created by Gackt. He designs everything on it unless otherwise specified (some of it is designed by You). This was stated when h.darts first came out three years ago. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.163.52.126 (talk) 20:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
Thank you so much for the info and clarifications, but we still need sources to support that before we can actually use it in the article. :( Silentaria 13:45, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Could someone please get a link to the relevant h.darts page update that states this so as to satisfy these demands?

Ju-ken has internal link and Id like someone add it on the GACKTjob members, because currently is locked.--Maestrotaku 20:08, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing it out; I've already added the internal link to the article. :) Silentaria 05:35, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Disappearing Information

What the hell happened to the majority of the content of this article? Not all of the [irrelevant stuff] but the serious, informative stuff. Do I have to upload Yoshiyuki Konishi catalogue scans and photos of Gackt actually on a fashion runway for people to believe it? How is that not relevant to Gackt's career? I mean, sure, it's a minor thing and modeling isn't terribly exciting but it's still true.

What is the point in removing information regarding Gackt's musical background? Putting a small chunk of it in the "early life" section basically makes the early life section look sloppy and disconnected. Not only that, the current incarnation implies that Gackt's competitiveness with his friend at age 11 caused him to take up other musical instruments. This is incorrect -- Jihaku states that going over and seeing his friend play the piano really well made Gackt start playing the piano again, not other musical instruments. There is enough factual, relevant information to constitute the return of the Musical Background section.

On the subject of hacking things up, doing so to the solo career section has left things out of order. Jihaku was published in 2003 but right after that sentence is a blurb on Gackt designing Caparison guitars, which happened back in 2001 and 2002.

SPEAKING of Jihaku, I'm not so gullible to believe that everything Gackt says is 100% true but I think disregarding the entirety of Jihaku as a source of information is stupid. It's an autobiography, not a work of fiction. Even if he exaggerates about how much his 38576 bottles of overpriced wine is, do you think he's going to lie about everything in his childhood?

Stop trying to trim this down. It's only making an even bigger mess of it and being less of a nazi about what you think is a legitimate source. Yeah, YouTube isn't really reliable but the printed word ought to count for something. Just because you haven't seen it or you don't read Japanese doesn't mean it's completely false, either. LauraOrganaSolo 18:02, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Not to sound rude myself, but would you kindly refrain from posting on Wikipedia talk pages until you have read and understood Wikipedia:Civility? Accusing other editors of "making a mess" or calling them "nazis" is about as unconstructive as it gets. - Cyrus XIII 21:42, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
It's been over three months. Can't someone, somewhere do better? LauraOrganaSolo 19:46, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Well...I can't do anything because what I already know about Gackt based on the sources readily available to me are already in the article. Since you seem to have some sources, why don't you add the info and properly cite the sources instead of waiting for someone else to do so? :-/ --SilentAria talk 00:35, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Because even when I cite printed sources like Gackt's autobiography or Japanese magazines, people remove it for a variety of reasons. Mostly because it isn't available in English, and evidently that means it is not true. Almost every edit or addition of information I have added to this page (and I don't mean the date of birth) has been removed, changed, or called wrong, inaccurate, irrelevant, or not important enough (shouldn't anything Gackt works on be worth noting in a Wikipedia article?). I stopped bothering because I got sick of the possessiveness some people seemed to hold towards this article. LauraOrganaSolo (talk) 16:43, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

The mini profile of Gackt at the beginning of the article lists his date of death as July 4th, 2007. Surely this is a mistake? I have refrained from editing the article as i have not found evidence to either prove or disprove it, but i can't see it being true. Also, i apologize if this is slightly off topic, but i wasn't sure which category to place it in and didn't see the need to begin a new topic. Thanks. Musashi1596 15:23, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Filling out the rest of this article

Hi kids.

First of all, I'd like to address this image issue we're having. If you don't think the image in place is sufficient, REPLACE IT. Having nothing there at all is worse.

Alright, as was mentioned earlier on, this article's had a lot done to it lately. Compared to what it was previously, it is bare bones and could honestly be fleshed out a little now. Also, whoever wrote what's there now is way too casual in their writing style for this type of article, so much of it needs to be rewritten. If no one wants to do it or help, I'll be more than willing to take it on, however I want everyone's feedback who would like to have a hand in it before anything's done- no more of this random deletion without explainable cause, because all that's going to do is create more frustration to those who just want a good article here.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from all of you. :)

(Tsukiakari 04:11, 28 June 2007 (UTC))

Sure, any help his appreciated. Though I suggest you read the following pages before engaging in any fleshing out on your part:
- Cyrus XIII 08:07, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
As a note on your image comment, almost all images of Gackt are non-free or "replaceable" according to image guidelines, or people don't put in a fair-use rationale for their use. If you're so adamant about having one there, try finding one that meets the criteria for an image that can stay in use. Nique talk 13:07, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll definitly check out what you've linked me to. :) (72.91.27.241 21:43, 29 June 2007 (UTC))
Added an image taken from the Malice Mizer article. Don't know if its non-free or "replaceable" but if its on the Malice Mizer pages then I assume it is...Sorry if it isn't. NpaK13 02:09, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Tsukiakari, you're right. This article when from informative to barely having the basics. I'd be happy to contribute except anything I add, regardless of the sources I cite (like Gackt's autobiography), is deleted. I hope you have better luck than I have had. Please feel free to add more. Furachi Radio Show

Would anyone like to point me in the direction of the revision that had information on what the full title of Gackt's radio show was and how long it ran to? I know it was listed here at some point but... yeah, no info seems to stay here for long.

If nothing else, would someone that remembers/knows please update this article to include information on Furachi? I know he was doing radio shows for All Night Nippon some time in 2002 but I don't know when it changed to being called Furachi, or exactly when Furachi finished (other than that I think it was some time late in 2004). If you check out Sawasdee, I believe there's some dates for his radio show there. It was on All Night Nippon, I know that much. I'm pretty sure it ran until 2004 (that's when I remember the site disappearing from ANN), and I believe he had it since 1999, but I'm not sure- that's where you'll have to check out sawasdee. ;) (Tsukiakari (talk) 04:14, 25 December 2007 (UTC))

Yeah but if I add that information, someone, somewhere will consider it irrelevant or something and it will get deleted. So I was hoping someone else would add that information and perhaps then it might stay. LauraOrganaSolo (talk) 19:26, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

It was called Gackt no Furachi na Otokotachi.

Languages

Can Gackt reall speak English, Korean, Cantonese and Mandarin? If there's not proof, you should probably put a ‹The template Talkfact is being considered for merging.› [citation needed] there.

There's proof. Watch moon child for your chinese dialects and check out the Dears Community site for references to gackt attending his korean lessons. (Tsukiakari (talk) 02:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC))
I agree that there is definite proof out there. I don't know too much about his Korean, but on a Domoto Kyoudai show, he was prompted by Vivian Chen to speak in Chinese (Mandarin?) and he did so very well. Not only that but in his biography translated by fans includes a section where he talks about his love of learning the Chinese language. 66.27.48.174 (talk) 06:04, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
He also sang 12gatsu no Love Song in chinese on the same-named single. 83.65.164.195 (talk) 08:52, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
12gatsu has been released in Japanese, English, Chinese & Korean. There is also a Korean version of his album Love Letter. Astharis (talk) 22:01, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Cains:FEEL?

The first band he was in wasn't mentioned. The whole article just seems too short. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.122.193 (talk) 11:13, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia articles (biographies in particular) draw their content from reliable sources, so if nobody gets around to present a good reference for information on that band, it's not kept (see Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources). - Cyrus XIII (talk) 13:42, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
The only solid reference is in Jihaku since demo tapes can't exactly be cited. There's not too much to say about cains:feel anyway other than, "Gackt was in it." The band is obscure as well and there's not much, if any, printed material on them, either on indie flyers or indie magazine features which leads me to believe they were pretty short-lived anyway. (Tsukiakari (talk) 02:20, 28 January 2008 (UTC))
If it's mentioned in the bio, I'm sure we can work it in at the end of the Early life paragraph. Though as always, we should lose the stylized typography and just write "Cains Feel" then. - Cyrus XIII (talk) 14:16, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Hm, I had a couple of magazines scans that were of Cains Feel (my computer, though, is in another state), You and former GacktJOB member Ren were in the scans thus in Cains Feel, and the song "Etude" from Gackt's album Love Letter was from that Cains Feel demo tape. Otherwise, I agree with the comments that the band didn't last long before Gackt joined Malice Mizer. oncamera(t) 21:09, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Oncamera, if you can some how get those scans up on photobucket or something and leave me a link to them, I'd love to see them. :) They're probably the only scans of the band ever. XD (Tsukiakari (talk) 03:27, 6 February 2008 (UTC))

Colon in "Lu:na"

Does the colon in the title of the song "Lu:na" serve any purpose other than decoration, i.e. a semantic distinction between individual elements of a composite? – Cyrus XIII (talk) 23:54, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Crisis Core involvement

Wasn't he a huge part of the game Crisis Core, serving as the base of a character model, and providing the voice? Surely this should be mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.53.153.196 (talk) 01:22, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

The article only lists examples of his involvement in anime and video games but if he still voiced the Genesis character in the Japanese version of Crisis Core, it is probably more notable than his brief appearance in Dirge of Cerberus. How does changing the latter to "games from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" sound? – Cyrus XIII (talk) 01:40, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

It's not necessary to add it- the man does a lot of unnecessary projects. However, if you'd really like, you're more than welcome to add a line or two about it under current activities. Please don't over-do it, though. (Tsukiakari (talk) 01:47, 4 July 2008 (UTC))

Please actually read WP:EL especially Links to Avoid - which specify identifies not including: links to MySpace, links to fan community sites and links to sites in languages other than english if an english language site is available. -- The Red Pen of Doom 02:25, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

From WP:EL#Links normally to be avoided: "Except for a link to a page that is the subject of the article." Therefore, the link to MySpace is acceptable. The Crown site, although in Japanese, provide us all discography, release dates and album covers of Gackt releases. Also from WP:EL#Non-English language content: "...or when the site contains visual aids such as maps, diagrams, or tables". As for the community website, you may be right about it, but I'll let other Gackt-familiarized editors decide. Who knows if the site contains further important info? Victor Lopes (talk) 02:57, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Hm, the official site also contains a complete Gackt discography, so I can see the Japanese language website (Crown) is no longer needed, perhaps. Victor Lopes (talk) 03:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
One Myspace Official link may be added, as a result of the WP:EL discussion here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:External_links#.22Official_Myspace.22_Links_on_Wiki Please feel free to add it back!Tsurugaoka (talk) 00:43, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, the result was that if there is valid reasoning and consensus for including additional links, additional links could be added. -- The Red Pen of Doom 01:17, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Each of the sites offer unique information, as well as echoed information. The Japanese myspace will in fact have different information from the English myspace, because the Japanese myspace will have information on ticket sales for various events whereas the English one will not because it is assumed the english myspace goers are not in japan and therefore cannot go. It's a bias that DEARS propagates on a regular basis. Whereas the official run 'community site' (which is really a misnomer, when you think about it) has behind-the-scenes photos and commentary by staff and Gackt himself that cannot be found elsewhere. They all carry legitimate footing to be listed on the page. (Tsukiakari (talk) 22:43, 15 July 2008 (UTC))
But is the "information" on any particular site that you wish to include of the quality, reliability and type that is intended to be found at the sources included in External Links. The external links are not to be used for sites just because "fans might want to see this."-- The Red Pen of Doom 23:39, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Ticket sale information, in particular, is just the kind of non-encyclopedic content which these guidelines are intended to exclude. We are not here to help a performer sell tickets, or to help their fans find out about concert dates! --Orange Mike | Talk 13:45, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

The Returner CD cover in infobox

I have once again moved The Returner CD cover from the infobox to the section of the article with critical commentary discussing the CD. Per Wikipedia:Non-free content#Images: "Cover art from various items, for identification only in the context of critical commentary of that item (not for identification without critical commentary)."

Because the image is being used for identification of Gackt and not The Returner it needs critical commentary to be considered fair use. Since there is no critical commentary in the infobox, and a caption would not suffice if it were there, the image needs to be moved to the area of the article where there is critical commentary. Aspects (talk) 21:04, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, once upon a time it had a great caption under it saying, "Gackt as he appeared on his most recent single and first number one hit, "Returner ~Yami no Shuen~" but I suppose it's been lost in the revisions.
Look, There is no image aside from cd covers that we can use for his photo so this must be used there. A caption like the one I just proposed should suffice under wikipedia guidelines as you've described them to me. The point is, if we have a photo we can use as the identifying photo, it has to be used because there's nothing else, and such circumstances also legitimize its place as the sole identifying photo for the article.
I'll await your response before any further moves are made for this image. (Tsukiakari (talk) 23:51, 19 July 2008 (UTC))
As long a gackt is alive, there is great potential for a free use image. When there exists a probability that we can obtain a free use image, we cannot just defualt to a "fair use" image and not follow the guidelines for fair use images at that. -- The Red Pen of Doom 00:05, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Currently, there are NO free-use images of Gackt. There was a huge debate some time ago about the fact that there are none. Therefore, that image of the cd cover that I uploaded stopped the bickering. If you, however, can find a free-use image (which you can't, because DEARS is iron fisted about marketing), please feel free. Otherwise, cd covers, sale stickers and all (which is what makes it useable under WP:FU), are all we have to work with. (Tsukiakari (talk) 02:02, 26 July 2008 (UTC))
The mere fact that no one has yet submitted a free use photo of a particlar living person does not allow the use of copyrighted material such as an album cover to be used. I will dig up the links in the policy pages if you dont believe me. -- The Red Pen of Doom 02:11, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Here, let me get that from WP:NONFREE (under the "Unacceptable use" heading): "Pictures of people still alive, groups still active, and buildings still standing; provided that taking a new free picture as a replacement (which is almost always considered possible) would serve the same encyclopedic purpose as the non-free image. This includes non-free promotional images. However, for some retired or disbanded groups, or retired individuals whose notability rests in large part on their earlier visual appearance, a new picture may not serve the same purpose as an image taken during their career, in which case the use would be acceptable." The Red Pen of Doom is right, as long as Gackt is still alive there is always a possibility that we'll be able to acquire a non-free image of him. We can't just go around using copyrighted images of him for his article just because we can't get a hold of a free image. --SilentAria talk 11:01, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
The current use of the CD cover to illustrate a section that discusses THAT cd release does appear to fall within wikipedia's fair use guidelines. I have modified the language on the image's page to indicate that we are using the image in the context of discussing the CD and not primarily/simply to illustrate the artist. -- The Red Pen of Doom 13:12, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Erm...that particular image that was used on the Gackt article is a duplicate of the image uploaded for the Returner ~Yami no Shuen~ article. I'll go ahead and replace it, seeing as the image is way too large (low-resolution images are recommended in Wiki for copyright purposes). --SilentAria talk 14:05, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I just added a photo after meticulously uploading and tagging it with all the necessary malarke. I got the author's permission for its use, and the author was one of hundreds who was taking photos of Gackt during the parade at which it was obtained. I don't think it's a very good example since it's Gackt dressed up as Uesugi Kenshin but it's better than nothing, and WE ACTUALLY HAVE PERMISSION TO USE IT. At present, said permission is only listed as the author's informal consent but I'll replace it with something formal when I get it from her. LauraOrganaSolo (talk) 18:29, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Trimming the image to be a head shot would be less weird than the full costume presentation. -- The Red Pen of Doom 19:11, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Out of the question. The costume provides context for the wig that he's wearing, and you have to admit it's a stunning photo. When I said I didn't think it was a very good example, I meant because it's not Gackt being Gackt, sitting around and looking srs bizns like he does in promotional photos. But since there's too much bureaucratic malarkey for us to just use the same promo image that every two-bit press website uses, I will settle for the highest-quality photo whose author will give us permission to use, and I won't see it chopped up. Not Much of a Conversation?

"He first met Mana, one of the leaders of the band, for dinner, but according to Gackt, didn't have much of a conversation." Has anyone else seen the humour in this, seeing as Mana... rarely speaks in public? --58.168.131.215 (talk) 17:43, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Regarding YFC members

I removed Jon from the list of Gackt's support members. The other members (Takumi, Uzo and Shinya) should probably also not be listed as his supporting band, as this is the lineup of YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz, not GacktJOB. I suggest reverting it to the last known lineup (Jun-ji, Chirolyn) for now as we don't know if any of the YFC members will tour with Gackt once he resumes his solo career. A separate YFC article should be created. Biography can be found here: http://yellowfriedchickenz.com/us_biography/index.html 84.135.180.88 (talk) 11:10, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Complete Article Revision

-The article is written in the form of propaganda. Examples: Mizerable performed well on the Oricon charts (opinion) The band released several successful singles (opinion)

-The article does not cite its sources. Example: Gackt dedicated two songs to his memory ("U+K" and "Emu ~For my dear~")

-The sources the article does cite are broken. Example:

  1. ^ (English)"Gackt ready for theater debut as 'attractive' samurai". The Mainichi Daily News. 2010-04-04. http://mdn.mainichi.jp/arts/news/20100404p2g00m0et021000c.html. Retrieved 2009-04-30.

-And last, I am not sure if it constitutes for a revision, but half the sources are in Japanese on a English wikipedia article. They are not verifiable. Example: http://career.oricon.co.jp/news/70378/full/

I'm sure Dears/Gackt/whatever is proud of you for keeping the internet safe from... whatever. Thanks for making it impossible for people to learn any actual facts about Gackt being a relatively normal human being since you don't accept anything that isn't written in English on the official website.

What's with all the Gackt died vandalism?

Every other week, I see someone posted a topic saying that Gackt had died. What's the point of this? Why does someone think it's funny to talk about a person like that... Today someone had, "December 2nd, 2008 Gackt was shot 8 times at the Narita Airport, by some unknown women wearing a mask of a Serpent. Although the indentity of the women is yet unknown, relatives believe that the shooter must of been a friend from high school who gained a certain affectional attachment to Gackt through the years." This person needs to learn how to spell too if he or she is going to try to vandalize...

I recommend put a permanent lock in the Gackt article, because it's so common to this type of thing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gakko (talkcontribs) 07:28, 3 December 2008

hmm... it's possible that rumors of his "death" spread from a fake obituary back in 2007. I doubt it, though. Most likely it was just anti-fans at work, vandalizing the page. There's apparently an anti-gackt group on facebook and a few anti-gackt websites. It's possible that some of them are responsible for the vandalism. When did he get so many anti-fans, anyway? =/ - rairakku(talk to me) 02:58, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Why hate Gackt, Gackt isn't hurting anyone? Crazy people out there... Could it be a lot of people are tired of Gackt being the Basis of a lot of video game characters? He has only had one single hit #1 on the charts (even though he deserves better in my opinion!) so it's not like he is hurting the music scene. Gackt is like a Japanese David Bowie, and no one disses Bowie like they do Gackt. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gakko (talkcontribs) 05:07, 4 December 2008
It has nothing to do with Gackt. Vandals are always declaring lots of living people dead in their wikipedia articles. -- The Red Pen of Doom 21:12, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Actually I have to agree with Gakko. He's basically saying that the Gackt page is more often attacked than other artiest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.161.64.232 (talk) 18:31, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
And from my experience - that claim is not accurate. Probably a third of the living people on my watchlist have been declared dead at least once - the only more common vandalism is to declare people gay which has happened on something like 70% of the articles. But neither of our opinions matters and this discussion has clearly wandered from improvements to the article. -- The Red Pen of Doom 18:52, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
I have also noticed that Gackt takes a little more heat than other artiest, and it sickens me dearly to see it. I agree with Gakko, Gackt needs a perminate lock. -Jamie23 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.161.53.73 (talk) 19:34, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
As TheRedPenOfDoom has mentioned, this discussion is wandering from improvements to the article. Many other celebrities suffer from vandalism all the time, and it's not a special case with Gackt. And, I don't know if this was your intention, but the manner by which you posted ("I have also noticed") after you already stated your agreement with Gakko makes me think that you intentionally signed with the name "Jaime23" to make it look like you're someone else adding a "vote" into the request for a "permanent" lock. Just in case that was your intention, please let this be a warning to avoid doing that in the future, as it is a form of deception and kind of like sock puppetry. --SilentAria talk 05:19, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Personal Life?

There is only information about his career and childhood... nothing about his current personal life and such. 70.151.33.237 (talk) 04:36, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Anything about Gackt's personal life -- even stuff out of Jihaku -- would just get deleted by TheRedPenofDoom on the grounds that it isn't relevant or that Jihaku isn't a valid source because it hasn't been officially translated into English and directly placed into his little hands. It's a waste of time. LauraOrganaSolo (talk) 19:43, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Age and vampire claim

Shouldn't this article mention Gackt's claim that he is a vampire born in 1540? From what I understand it's what he says whenever anyone asks about his age. 121.44.202.179 (talk) 10:38, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

How many years has it been since Gackt said that and tried to sound serious? It hasn't been relevant since 1999. LauraOrganaSolo (talk) 19:38, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

GACKT page need protection from anpropriete-unsigned persons, maybe they will give some good news, but vandalism in this article isn't new. Solo career maybe need to be better write, ( beggining of solo career! ), and for games, mangas, it's small, anseen. Article is old so have old name of artists "Gackt", today is "GACKT" or change to " Gackt Camui - his not true name "? Maybe new article and close this, better?

If you paid any attention to what I and TheRedPenOfDoom have been saying and if you actually took the time to read the policies that we've mentioned over and over, you'd understand why we feel the need to revert your edits. Regarding the link, WP:EL states that "Links to English language content are strongly preferred in the English-language Wikipedia. It may be appropriate to have a link to a non-English-language site, such as when an official site is unavailable in English; or when the link is to the subject's text in its original language; or when the site contains visual aids such as maps, diagrams, or tables—per the guideline on non-English-language sites." Since an official English-language version of Gackt's MySpace account is already linked, there is no need to link the Japanese-language one. --SilentAria talk 14:18, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

I don't know few rules here, but putting Gackt English myspace is foolest thing you are doing. While I certainly don't have sympathy for those who ask "On what you are? Drugs?", there's a news/blog post on the English MySpace that says to use the Japanese one. Well, more specifically it says that they're only mainly using that one - which I think would be enough to make it the one listed. Magicalthirty (talk) 19:42, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
GACKT is Japanese artist (I hope you know) and it is obvious that he uses Japanese language as his mother lan., but was conscious ofoverseas interest and benefit, so use both Korean and Chinese in the first place, as well as English langua. Other musical artists therefore have only one MySpace profile, but in English, and Gackt only two, with two different languages, but why to have two of them when there is an option "translate"?

People come here to read something about him, about his career, and so on and find a link that will give them better information than you will, which would be in all the expectations and his OFFICIAL web pages. So if one is wrong and is violating the rules of him, then you are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GreyWolfy (talkcontribs) 16:41, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

If one reads the policy on external links, it's possible to use common sense and make an exception to the guidelines per WP:IAR/WP:SENSE because the English version of his Myspace will no longer be updated as his Official Japanese version is the only one they will be maintaining. It's not helpful to the article to link to the English version which is basically being "abandoned." oncamera(t) 23:12, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Layout

The layout needs an adjustment; it's not organized very well... I was looking a little at TVXQ and how it is organized, but I'm not sure how we should fix this article. Anyway, I started copy editing and fixing some of the references, but perhaps someone has an idea of a better layout for Gackt's article per WP:LAYOUT. oncamera(t) 02:09, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

I had and has a idea to make a better layout, but because no one support me, it's your bad.. This article don't need any more updates, but need new name " Gackt Camui ", I don't know how to change that, but if can't be, then you need to open a new article what will talk more about " Gackt Camui " and not only about stage "Gackt". I has another more thing to mention here, this article was a long time edited of wrong people, who lacks inforamtion about him, who don't know him, basically say, discriminating him, who done, musicaly and private life career so much 98% of musical, film etc. STARS would be shamed ( in Japan and Asia he is respected, and many calling him "Gackt-sama" ), and not to mention he is highly intelligent, wisdom person. I am going working on new article right now, I mean how would look " Gackt Camui " one.

( Think about this - you need to make a decision and new article before 2010 when will be Bunraku released. ) --GreyWolfy (talk) 20:38, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

My concerns are wholly about the layout and nothing at all to do with the article's title per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). Please understand Wikipedia policies before making hasty decision based upon your personal opinions. Cheers, oncamera(t) 23:33, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Gackt Camui Birth Date - New Article

I, GreyWolfy, for few days will upload a re-edit article of Gackt Camui. Hope for understanding and if is anything wrong on it do not delete whole, but fix the problem

Gackt confirmed his age:

Yesterday in Japan, at conference of NimuriXGackt Project, on question about his date Gackt said " Next Year I will be 37! ", so his real date of birth is July 4 1973. With no negacing like previous with 1540, what ever it is different thing to talk about. --GreyWolfy (talk) 20:15, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

You will need a reliable source that can be CITED before you can change his birthdate. Also, your English is difficult to understand, so I suggest not re-writing the article if it will require more clean-up than what is currently in his article; other editors should NOT have to "fix the problem" if you're just planning on creating them. I understand you feel the need to make this article the best possible, but Wikipedia has a manual of style that should be followed as best possible. If you have information you wish to add to the article, do so with references. oncamera(t) 01:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Since I am not native English speaker, I will try the best I can to be less grammatical errors. Article will not be different from the present one, yet later, any improvement is sought a sacrifice, and spend little time which will later contribute to the fruit, not in vain.--GreyWolfy (talk) 09:04, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Hmmmmm, i seem to remember saying that was his birthday a few years back but someone told me I was wrong and that my sources were not credible. Hmmmmm. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kreaden (talkcontribs) 04:35, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, maybe that's because Gackt hadn't formally revealed his date of birth a few years back like he did in 2009. Sorafune +1 13:36, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Reorganization of the article

I'd like to do a massive reorganization of this article, as it's a bit of a mess to read right now. Any input as to what is/isn't effective would be greatly appreciated. I'll be starting with the biography section, and will organize the section according to milestones in both Gackt's musical and acting careers. I hope to make the following changes:

  • Dividing the "Biography" section into blocks of years as follows:
    • Early life
    • 1995-1999: Malice Mizer
      • notes: This section will probably be kept as it appears in the article now.
    • 1999-2003: Solo debut and foray into acting
      • notes: His first few albums need to be discussed here, which is a problem in itself, as "Mars", "Rebirth", and "Crescent"/"Moon" are conceptually unrelated (yet being crammed into the same period). "Mars" was pretty important and did pretty well on the Oricon charts (3rd weekly, I think?) and Rebirth is worth mentioning for its experimental content. Idk what to say about Moon and Crescent. Maybe stick them with the Moon Child discussion?
    • 2004-2008: Acting career and rising commercial success
      • notes: This will include his acting in Furin Kazen and the Oricon chart performance of Returner: Yami no Shuen. The problem with this section is that Gackt only released two new albums - Diabolos and Love Letter - in this period. Again, they're conceptually unrelated albums, which makes organization difficult. In addition, he released a ton of compilation albums during this period, all which will be somehow mentioned in the section.

EDIT: Does anyone have all of the Oricon chart numbers? Apparently, Gackt was already very successful before the release of "Returner"... it's just that "Returner" was his first single to top the Oricon... e.g. Kimi ni Aitakute (2004) got up to 2nd on the charts and moved 124,280 copies, but there aren't many numbers before that... except maybe for Vanilla (2000), which, despite moving 248,360 copies, only got 4th on the Oricon charts... but anyway... help? :'D Nevermind. I didn't realize that highest (weekly) position and chart run were both on the Oricon website.

    • 2009-present: Tenth anniversary
      • notes: I'm not sure what to do about Jesus. It was released in late 2008 and signaled the end (so far) of the string of releases of Gackt's compilation albums, which spanned from 2004 to 2008 (now that I think about it, "Release of a cr*pload of compilation albums" or something along the lines of that could be added to the section title |D)
    • Anime and voice work will be mentioned in the time periods in which they occur.
    • Obviously, there are a number of problems with this arrangement from a musical standpoint, as mentioned in the notes. However, if there aren't any objections, I'd like to start reorganizing the information there within the next few days.
  • Adding in an "Other works" section
    • This will probably include discussions of Gackpoid, SKIN, and Kamen Rider Decade.

The other option that I was looking at (in terms of reorganizing the biography section) is to sort things out by concept:

  • "Mars" and "Mizerable" would be grouped together since they're Gackt's debut stuff
  • "Rebirth" is linked to "Reborn" based on the stories they tell
  • "Moon" and "Crescent" are linked to "Diabolos"
  • "Sixth Day", "Seventh Night", and "Love Letter" are linked because they're either singles collections or follow the unplugged theme
  • The other compilation albums are grouped together
  • Acting will be put under an "Acting career" section and be discussed chronologically. Gackpoid, SKIN, anime songs, and Kamen Rider will be under "Other works", since they're not related to Gackt's main discography.

Obviously a ton of problems with this organizational scheme, as well, since things won't necessarily be in chronological order.

Other things to add to the article:

  • Image and artistry (includes musical style and public image. Maybe influences, too?).
  • Personal life? The problem with this is that not much is known about Gackt's personal life, and what is known is probably in Japanese (time to go reference hunting...)

I think that's it for now. If there aren't any major objections, I'd like to get started sometime later this week. Any opinions/ideas/things are more than welcome, since I know that the proposal is filled with holes. - rairakku(talk to me) 04:05, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I like the plan you have started! I think it's better to just get started and adjustments to your REORG can be made then. I like the chronological order more but I also like the mentioning of the concepts of his albums too. oncamera(t) 15:32, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually, there is a person working on the article. Either way it's nice to hear more people who have similar plans in their mind. For now, you could help with re-organization (with other "available" users around Gackt article) of Discussion Page. While in near future, (free will) to partake in the discussion for various things.

Could you with others 'clean' the Discussion Page, for now?* Sorafune: With certainty, there is three times more references...*--GreyWolfy (talk) 18:19, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
How are we supposed to "clean" the discussion page? The purpose of this page is to discuss improvements to the article, which all of the conversations do; there isn't any need to clean anything up.- rairakku(talk to me) 19:07, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Also, is it possible for you to include a link to the Gackt article that you're working on? I'm interested in organizing the biography section of the article, as the current one is messy. I've already split the article as I said I would in my subpage, if you want to take a look (here); I just haven't copied it over to the actual article, yet.- rairakku(talk to me) 19:16, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
You will see it as a rewritten article, and any other improvements will be done after. This work has some time on. Discussion page - there are things what have ended, to be older for more than two years, of no more use, in other words: unnecessarily. Wikipedia as a free encyclopedia has a problem, is not a book where there is no redundancy.-GreyWolfy (talk) 12:36, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
I believe Wikipedia's policy is not to archive pages until they reach 50 KB or have more than 10 main topics, which this discussion page has not yet reached. As for the rewritten article, about how long do you have until you finish it? If it's going to be a few weeks, then I'd rather go ahead with my edits until you're ready to redo it with yours, since the article as it stands is just hard to read. - rairakku(talk to me) 22:22, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm not interested in further questions. I told you, to be soon, and make solid article until I finished.--GreyWolfy (talk) 15:16, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Tarento

Is Gackt also considered to be a Tarento? He can sing, he can dance, he plays multiple different instruments, he acts, does live drama stuff, took part in game shows, somewhat known for his looks, etc. Sera404 (talk) 17:36, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Personally, I would say no. But if there are multiple, reliable sources that make that claim, then it should be considered. But from reading the article, Tarento seems like a term for someone who can't do anything talented and is just on tv for whatever reason. Like Paris Hilton. Pronunciation of name

For a long time remained that his (stage)name is pronounced Gakuto, but is this true? Any official source? In the latest video advertising for the latest single "Ever" was pronounced as Gakt, perhaps his stage name is so pronounced? While during the interviews or closely related to TV, is pronounced as Gakto, because it is easier to pronounce and sounds more personal? Do you know anything about?--Shurin (talk) 17:23, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

The reason it says Gakuto is because the kanji "楽" is pronounced Gaku and "斗" is pronounced to. So, that makes it Gakuto. His name is said as Gackt, though, officially, but Japanese people have a hard time pronouncing his name the American-English way, so that's what you hear Gakto or Gakuto instead (it's easier for them to pronounce). oncamera(t) 20:54, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Only managing to release one #1 single

For someone to have a singing career that spans over 15 years and only manage to release one #1 single is very mentionable. Articles are always quick to mention how many number one singles artists have, Gackt's article is no exception. He has had one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.149.236.113 (talk) 09:14, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz is a separate band

I don't think Takumi, Shinya, Uzo and Jon should be listed as "supporting band". They are members of "Yellow Fried Chickenz" which is now definitely a separate band from GacktJOB (as opposed to last year, where it was basically just the tour name but still more or less a GACKT-tour). It's been called a "YFC"-Tour as opposed to a GACKT tour for a while now and there has been an announcement of the first YFC single so it should definitely be treated as separate from GACKT's solo career. YFC also have their own site now: http://yellowfriedchickenz.com/ 91.5.57.55 (talk) 15:25, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

The Final Fantasy VII development began in 1994, and the game was released in 1997, while Gackt started his solo career in 1999, so it's not true. The second statement is also false as that rumour most probably originates when was in a band Malice Mizer. Wikipedia is not a fan fiction-fandom site.--Shurin (talk) 11:52, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

About notability and reorganization of the associated articles

Regarding the amount of created articles connected and associated with the artist Gackt, emerged few important issues. For the beginning will cite the Wikipedia's article about notability in music, ie. recordings; "...That a single is an officially released recording by a notable musician or ensemble is not by itself reason for a standalone article." This citation sums up the whole issue. To continue, there were created articles for (almost) every single, with a reasonable purpose, but most of them don't have a significant coverage witch result's with two-sentences and single's cover. In the matter of fact, there's nothing to write about. The articles can stand like that in an encyclopedia as is Wikipedia, but are too non-informative to stand alone. A identical or similar issue is with the soundtrack, box set, DVD's and platinum boxes. So I suggest a discussion for the matter and how to deal with it.

As a possible solution, the singles articles can be deleted, and appropriately merged into the artist's album articles. As an example; because there is nothing more than a release and charting sentence and cover picture, in the case of the studio album Crescent (Gackt album) and the three singles "Kimi ga Oikaketa Yume", "Tsuki no Uta" and "Last Song (Gackt song)", the singles information, like track listing can be listed beneath album's, with appropriate title, in "show-hide" form. The section concering the release of the product and it's reception would be extended with the additional singles information, which standalone in single's article is not that effective. The cover pictures can be adjusted in a table, like in the second "3.5 Setting borders" Stars table. With articles deletion arises another issue; what about the Template:Gackt singles? Should it be deleted too, or to serve for easier navigation.

Another example(s): The "Jūnigatsu no Love Song" article can be merged with Jūnigatsu no Love Song: Complete Box. For instance, the box set cover can be put as an aside textual picture. The "Remix of Gackt", "Saikai (Story)" and "Lu:na/Oasis", can be merged with their respectively connected albums. With other articles being deleted, a text showing previous artist's achievement on the Oricon chart in the article of his only number one single "Returner (Yami no Shūen)" would get on importance. Yet, not all articles need to be deleted, as some are more specific, like socially inspired "Jūnigatsu no Love Song" and "No ni Saku Hana no Yō ni", number one spot "Returner (Yami no Shūen)", "Redemption (song)" (which personally would merge somehow with Diabolos), and the three Kamen Rider Decade singles. Other singles "Setsugekka (The End of Silence)/Zan", "Ever", "Episode.0", "Graffiti (Gackt song)" and "Until the Last Day", are by the case identical to "Redemption" due to no album connection, yet are inferior in importance to the latter. This brings another issue to discuss; wheter to create an article for every single, or how to know for which to create (specialization)? This question actually asks if, if there is any kind of it, a group opinion and decision are againts the individual, and again does the individual opinion is more important than article('s associated articles) quality.

Concerning other subjects: The Slo-Pachinko Gladiator Evolution Original Soundtrack article could be deleted as the information ("...It consists of re-recorded Gackt songs and 1 song which featured Gackt as a guest vocalist, Kagero, from Chachamaru's album Air, promoting his own pachinko slot machine "Gladiator Evolution". It goes into circulation as the prize of the pachinko parlor and is not sold at record shops.") about it can be put in a attached table "Information" to the soundtrack table in Gackt discography. The reason to do it is perhaps the low importance of it in artist's musical career. The live video MARS Sora Kara no Homonsha: Kaisō importance is low as the track list can be found in nine*nine alongside others. The video single Gekkou is also low in importance. The platinum boxes can be merged into one article, Platinum Box, in the style of "Jūnigatsu no Love Song" and nine*nine.

In this case the information would be more centralized, and articles would get on textual quality and quantity.--Shurin (talk) 02:12, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

A single is notable if it has charted. You should check to see if the single charted at all. If it has, then it has to stay. If it has not charted, it should go. Albums are notable regardless.—Ryulong (琉竜) 05:29, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
Agree with the response concerning single's articles, the current situation is simpler in navigation. What should be done with the MARS Sora Kara no Homonsha: Kaisō article? It is a live recording of the final concert of his first tour, at the Yokohama Arena, but there is no source, as I'm concerned, to describe it. The live recording of his biggest concert, almost spectacle, at the Tokyo Dome, could be more interesting for the public, and was accompanied by the press. The 2009 concert is also quite notable. Don't think all artist's concert recodings should have an article, but if yes, then at least only the most notable, where importance would be the criteria. Also it can be argued the importance of the two music video compilations Greatest Filmography, as were released in the North America. Could be made a list of selected articles, which were found enough relevant and interesting for the artist, to be next created. And, what about the Platinum Boxes? Until now were released eleven editions, and they are not of an importance, maybe besides for the fanclub. Should we merged them into one article (Platinum Box I)?--Shurin (talk) 19:08, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Voice provider for Gackpoid's voicebank

I think that Gackt being the voice provider for Internet Co., Ltd.'s Gackpoid Vocaloid is notable. As for a citation, there may be something more suitable, and there's probably more, but links these are in Gackpoid's JP article's reference section and both hace mentions of Gackt being the voice provider: http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cda/article/news_toppage/44848.html http://ascii.jp/elem/000/000/130/130797/

Personal life - Tax and mistress/child scandal?

I understand GACKT keeps his personal life pretty well hidden, but surely this article (or those it sources) could count as source? In short, it mentions his rather odd-looking finances as well as the fact he has a mistress and child in Vancouver, Canada. [5] 213.106.38.225 (talk) 23:57, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

After 2-day research it seems all scandals involving him were not found to be real, one or two even on court due to impact on his general public image and career. They were just magazine rumours seeking for attention and issue sales. It would be against Wikipedia principles to include all the rumours, just what would look like celebrity articles, wouldn't they have more text of false rumours then their career? That certainly would give a very distorted image of public figures. Not including them means they did not happen, otherwise could profoundly affect the Wikipedia reliability. Only if they did happen it could be considered for mention - but according Wikipedia principles WP:BLP and WP:FRINGEBLP.--Crovata (talk) 14:24, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Opportunities

This article was a little difficult to copyedit, as the biography section (the bulk of the article) reads like a singles discography in prose, many of the referencing articles are in Japanese, and his Japanese-language autobiography is often cited as the only source for early material, rather than being referenced in terms of the writing, critical reception and reviews. His autobiography would be more appropriately added into the personal life section, rather than being used in the early life section stating facts of his life. For the biography section, it would be appropriate to add critical reception, records broken, awards received, reviews of singles and albums, and also to mention themes of the albums. ~ JourneySarah (talk) 10:01, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

RIAJ claims

The article claims that some of his albums were certified gold by RIAJ, I marked them with citation needed as I manually browsed through the RIAJ database month by month (yes, seriously), and could not find them. I put references to those I did find. Maybe the database is not 100% correct and previously existing older pages might show this, but this is how far my Japanese reading ability with Google Translate takes me. I'd appreciate if a Japanese speaker could check upon these albums and their RIAJ certification. Thanks a lot. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 19:17, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

I see there was citation needed, January 2019 next to the RIAJ claims but you've gone ahead and deleted them entirely. Can you list which ones needed citation here? I saw Rebirth and Another World, were there others? Thanks, oncamera 21:44, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
@Oncamera: I included the link to the WikiProject discussion in the edit summary: [6] The whole thing is there. It seems that these do not have any official sources of certification, even if their sales numbers would justify the gold status. They are not on RIAJ websites and I also searched archive.org. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 22:29, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
@Teemeah: I see, I don't follow that WikiProject and it should be discussed on this talkpage anyway so that people following this page can follow along. You can then create a section on the Wikiproject asking for insight. oncamera 22:53, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
Talk pages rarely get to the right people. Wikiprojects are designed as a hub for users who have the same interests. It is much more likely to get an answer there than here. :) Teemeah 편지 (letter) 23:02, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
Yes, but you create the discussion here and then create a section with request for comments like I did on a different Wikiproject. That way it's archived here for future reference. oncamera 23:04, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

BTW, this could easily become at least a Good Article. I am currently translating this to Hungarian and thus combing through the text, so I correct what I find as I go, including broken links and poor grammar. Once done, this could be nominated for GA. Cleanup and expansion

I'm done. @Oncamera: if you have anything else to add, please do so. This is going for FA in huwiki. Cheers. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 23:51, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

I'll look through the article later! Thank you for your edits and good luck with the hu-FA! oncamera 01:42, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

Between 4 and 26 January, was made an extensive change of date format. I have reverted some of the information and I really don't care to edit the previous date format. The editor who nominated the article should correct that.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 16:40, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Also, whoever recently edited the article, please, in the future don't remove wikilinks from the article, especially not from the "Discography" section. They exist for a reason.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 16:41, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

@Miki Filigranski: All the dates were formatted to match since I wanted to nominate this article for Good Article. I didn't see any consistency in the date formatting when I went through to make all the references match, so I'm not sure where you're coming from that there was a dominate date format. Also the lead needs to include information covered in the article, which should include information in his early life section. Also, full dates are supposed to be used in section titles. If you want to change the date formating to the way you prefer, that doesn't bother me, but if you want to edit war over the change you made to make the references now inconsistent, I'm going to have to delist the nomination of Good article for this page. oncamera 17:00, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

@Oncamera: I didn't say anywhere it was dominant, only that I made a revert and someone, perhaps you, should fix the date format to current citation style. The lead wasn't written as it should be either. As well, the image which was in the "2012–2014" section was included for what reasoning? Per WP:IMGDD "Don't add images that are not relevant", and at MOS:PERTINENCE "Images must be significant and relevant in the topic's context, not primarily decorative...". What it has to do with the section's context?--Miki Filigranski (talk) 17:07, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Sincerely, the article revision wasn't in the state to be nominated for GA anyhow.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 17:14, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
@Miki Filigranski:I am not concerned with the removal of any images. The lead should cover information presented in the article, which includes early life. See Ayumi Hamasaki as an example. Also, you changed the date formatting of the references after they were consistent. There was no dominate style before I made the changes so I could list for Good Article nomination. If you want to change the date format of references, please go back and either revert your changes or go through all references so they are consistent. I will not edit war over it and will delist the article from GAN if you decide to leave it as it currently is. If you feel it is not GA status, please review the GA nomination and fail it with proper reasoning so the article can be improved. Cheers, oncamera 17:18, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
@Oncamera: You don't need to tell me about WP:LEAD. The old revision in the introduction, consisting of only one sentence, really didn't say much compared to a broader paragraph. The second paragraph pointlessly mentioned that in early life moved around cities, father's profession, where attended high school. No, I primarily reverted back the sections and their information. I really don't care about GA nomination, if you do care, then edit the reference style.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 17:25, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
@Miki Filigranski: if you don't care about improving an article so that it can reach Good Article and Featured Article status, then why edit Wikipedia? To have WP:OWNership of an article? That's not how it's supposed to work. oncamera 17:31, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Please, this is becoming really irritating... Comment on content, not the editors. If you really care about improving the article to reach a better status, then per WP:BRD, try to understand why your "improving" was reverted and accordingly edit it.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 17:35, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

@Miki Filigranski: The dates were consistent. And now they are not because of your edits. Which one is an improvement? oncamera 17:48, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

The dates are not the issue and reason I made the revert. Look, don't waste my time. I am going to make the edit you should have already made.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 17:56, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
@Oncamera: Done that. Is there anything else of your concern about content for discussion?--Miki Filigranski (talk) 18:26, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
@Miki Filigranski: Thanks for improving the article. The lead paragraphs are missing information from his early life section that you deemed as pointless, but is normally included in articles of quality. See Featured Articles such as Ayumi Hamasaki and Good Articles such as Nobuo Uematsu as examples. oncamera 18:49, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Per MOS:OPENPARABIO, the lead paragraph with only one sentence "Gakuto Oshiro (大城 ガクト Ōshiro Gakuto, born July 4, 1973), better known by his mononymous stage name Gackt, is a Japanese musician, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor" lacks notability. What I deemed pointless was over-detailed information for LEAD in general. Alright, will make a partial revert.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 11:59, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Why did you remove the photo from the most recent section? I sepnt half an afternoon hunting CC licence videos on youtube to have a photo that matches the era. This article is really long and has really few photos in it! Teemeah 편지 (letter) 11:51, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Already explained above.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 11:59, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
@Teemeah: don't make WP:POINT revert, the reasoning was provided above. Please follow WP:BRD.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 12:06, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
You are simply nitpicking and ruining other editors' work. This Wikipeda has become a rigid, lifeless hierarchical monarchy that seeks to limit spreading knowledge, which is pretty far from what this place used to be when I signed up 14 years ago. No wonder that many of my peers leave the English Wikipedia. Go on, keep citing irrelevant rules, and discard what others have worked on, because you deem that fit... I'm done with this place. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 12:34, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Is it so hard to have a normal discussion about content? Is it really "irrelevant"? Can you give, simply, your rationale for inclusion of the image in the section? Having a short discussion doesn't imply the content won't be included, but it obviously won't if we have such a reaction. --Miki Filigranski (talk) 14:55, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Instead of this whole discussion which resulted in many of the edits you made being reverted, perhaps you should look up MOS, examples of articles that have achieved quality status instead of having other editors who have worked on this page to prove why their improvements should stay. Per MOS:Images: Images must be significant and relevant in the topic's context, not primarily decorative. They are often an important illustrative aid to understanding. When possible, find better images and improve captions instead of simply removing poor or inappropriate ones, especially on pages with few visuals. However, not every article needs images, and too many can be distracting. First, the image of him performing on stage is relevant. The article has few images and it states to find better images and improve captions instead of simply removing them. Your rationale for removing it doesn't seem to be part of the MOS in comparison to why it should be included. Thanks for improving the article by restoring the image you removed. oncamera 15:36, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
I am asking again, how the image in question is relevant to the section's context and an "important illustrative aid to understanding"? The article body has 3 images, plus 2 music tracks, it's not like it has so few images as well as files.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 16:02, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Ah, I thought it was a different image in question. "File:Gackt 2013 RCTI.jpg" -- there are articles that include images based on the year they were taken. Also the image is from Indonesian telecast, which ties into his fame outside of Japan, considering he doesn't even live there as his primary residence anymore. The caption can be improved to reflect his international fame throughout Asia. Cheers, oncamera 16:18, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
The image is related to "In November 2013, Gackt appeared as a guest-star in two episodes (21 & 22) of the Indonesian Tokusatsu series, Bima Satria Garuda, as "Noir", the mysterious "Bima Legend" Knight from Parallel World" and hence will include it there for now. Is there any RS about it which could be cited for "international fame throughout Asia"? The inclusion of the series acting role in music career section, as an exception, is a bit off. Instead, I advise you to search for photographs & videos in the period of 2010-2012 when he toured with a band Europe and Japan. There must be files uploaded by fans & whoever, @Teemeah: you already made a search, is it even possible that almost nothing exists? --Miki Filigranski (talk) 13:54, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
Of course there are images, but they are all copyrighted. Japanese (and Asians in general) are not very big on Creative Commons, it's extremely difficult to find CC licenced photos of Japanese artists. There are a lot of artists where there are no free photos at all. It's by luck only if you get concert photos under CC for Japanese bands, only the bigger ones that have extensive European/American followers have more photos. For example X Japan only has that many because a pro photographer who followed them for several concerts put all his photos under CC on flickr. I already searched Flickr, as well as other sites. I also wrote to several photgraphers on Flickr asking them to change the licence for at least 1 photo in their range but no answer. These communities differ greatly from Western fan comunnities that are more open to such an approach. If he ever comes to Europe again, I'll be there and I'll take photos like I did for many Asian artists already, but until then we have to work with what we have. And we have a lot of text with hardly any visual representation of this person. It's a shame because this is a good article. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 17:02, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Filmography

Why was the filmography section removed? It's easier to see what he acted in, then to read the whole section to find out which movies he was in. Why are you removing constructive content? Teemeah 편지 (letter) 22:18, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
