Lineup changes (2019)

[edit]

This might be the cleanest way to represent Hana's shifting role in the band. What do you guys think?
Current: Hana (はな) – guitar, vocals, drums (2009–present)
New: Hana (はな) – drums and vocals (2009–2018), guitar and vocals (2019-present)

Switch the order by having the current guitar and vocals before the former drums and vocals and change the end year of drums to 2019 not 2018 and I think you're right it is the "cleanest". I'm fine if that's what we go with, but she didn't start singing until 2012, so it could be argued that it is technically incorrect. There are articles for much more popular bands that add everything as can be seen for Billy Sherwood from Yes (band)#Personnel and Ricky Medlocke from Lynyrd_Skynyrd#Band_members, so it's not out of the question to have:
Hana (はな) – guitar (2019–present), vocals (2012–present), drums (2009–2019)
it just looks bad. But then you have articles like The Beatles#Personnel where George Harrison didn't play sitar until 1965 but they just have the years he was a member regardless of the instruments. This is why I just left it the current way. Xfansd (talk) 02:46, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the Billy Sherwood example is too long, and that type of description would ultimately confuse the reader. The Beatles model is clearer for the purposes of providing an overview.
Hana (はな) – drums, vocals, guitar (2009–present)
would probably suit the purpose of identifying her contributions to the band and length of time; additional details about transitions (like your example of her taking on vocals in 2012) could be found in the main body of the article.--GimmeChoco44 (talk) 04:24, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
