- I can't find any mention of why he received MVP votes in 1936. He followed a great, MVP-winning 1935 season, with a merely good season in 1936 with a .307 batting average, so some of the votes may have been from the residual effect his 1935 season had on the memories of sportswriters.Orsoni (talk) 12:16, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this article meets WP:WIAGA and am passing it now.
