Requested move

GRITS (band) → GRITS – move band to basename instead of redirecting — JHunterJ 12:17, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"G.R.I.T.S." is a well known acronym in the southern United States for "Girls Raised In The South." i.e., "I like to eat G.R.I.T.S." This obscure music group does not have a lock on the acronym G.R.I.T.S.--Heavy 15:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The closest article we have is Southern belle. Dan, the CowMan 16:33, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you go to GRITS personal web site it's nothing but a Chinese web site. The only GRITS web site that's still active is their MySpace site.

Potential libel

[edit]

There is an accusation of plagiarism in this article that is only supported by a Twitter post. I believe this should be removed unless further supporting evidence can be found to substantiate this claim. 65.24.130.24 (talk) 02:30, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Ryan 2/14/2011[reply]

Grits not GRITS

[edit]

A check in sources shows not usually capitalized. And therefore not an acronym. Moved to Grits (hip hop duo) In ictu oculi (talk) 16:38, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on what sources I suppose. To be clear, all of the sources make it clear that the name is an initialism or acronym for "Grammatical Revolution in the Spirit" and so at best, using Wikipedia capitalization rules we could consider GRitS. I found that https://www.jesusfreakhideout.com/artists/Grits.asp is clear it is in all caps although most reviews do not use the upper case initialism, https://www.jesusfreakhideout.com/cdreviews/Reiterate.asp does. https://www.allmusic.com/artist/grits-mn0000146086 Powell, Mark Allan (2002). Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music. Peabody, Massachusetts: Hendrickson Publishers. p. 391. ISBN 978-1565636798. treat it as a word and only capitalize the first letter. The same can be said with ccmmagazine.com and others. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:23, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Per the above discussion it’s obvious the undiscussed move by a seasoned editor who knows better was at least potentially controversial and warranted an RM. I’ve reverted accordingly. —В²C 16:26, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
